This is a white powder in a bag that you can add to your coffee or smoothie. I only take about half a teaspoon per day, and I feel some of its effects in a few minutes, namely a warmth and slight itchiness on the skin, sort of like niacin, if you are familiar with that. Unlike niacin, you don't build up resistance to it. The flush of niacin gradually disappears after a few days of taking it; whereas beta-alanine's flush returns each day after taking it, undiminished. In health terms, beta-alanine combines with histidine to become carnosine, a peptide you can also obtain as a supplement but is very expensive compared to beta-alanine. Carnosine is a powerful anti-ageing peptide that is only found in animal products. Me being a vegetarian I took carnosine for years. There was a study by the LEF (life extension foundation) where they said that "in theory vegetarians should live longer than non-vegetarians, but that this result has failed to materialize; but we now believe it is due to lack of carnosine in vegetables", paraphrasing. Now I take beta-alanine instead, which costs less and has additional benefits (muscle hypertrophy, etc.) And I'm not sure what it means, but I have to say that I feel super-good for several hours after taking it; like comfortable in my own skin, so to speak.
