- Reviewed in Canada on August 24, 2023Verified PurchaseI think the design would be better if there was a slot for the cast iron handle to stick out so you can still carry it by that handle.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's a beast and very adaptable
Verified PurchaseFor reasons unknown, I couldn't make up my mind between the Camp Chef griddle top and the Little Griddle. I actually went as far as ordering the Little Griddle, but had a change of heart and switched to the Camp Chef. I'm glad I made the decision. Nothing against the Little Griddle, but I'm thrilled with the Camp Chef. The first thing you should know is that I don't have a Camp Chef stove. I intended the griddle top to go on my Weber Genesis II SE310, but I couldn't find very many photographs of the Camp Chef other than the stock picture. I didn't have a very good sense of the grease trap, nor did I really have a great sense of what the heat deflectors looked like. I finally found a video on YouTube, which had a one-second glimpse of the underside. In any event, because the griddle top was specifically made for Camp Chef stoves, I was concerned about its use on another grill. For anyone out there who shares the same concern, don't worry -- at least as far as the Weber Gen II is concerned. The 16 x 24 griddle top is a perfect fit, with about 3/4 of an inch on either side of the griddle top to spare for ventilation. The griddle sits flat on the grates and spacing is not a problem. A few observations I would like to make. First, do not be scared off by Camp Chef's admonition to never heat the griddle past "medium" or else it could warp the griddle. The Camp Chef stoves feature 30,000 BTU burners. By comparison, the Weber's burners are around 13,000 each. I fire up my Weber to high to preheat and it hasn't hurt the griddle at all. I am awaiting an infrared temp gun, so I can monitor the surface heat, but so far, no warping. I think the admonition by Camp Chef is assuming that you will be putting the griddle on one of its stoves. Second, the griddle top has a grease tray in the front, with a small hole in the left side for drainage. If you use the griddle top on a Camp Chef stove, there is an accessory that you can attach to the stove to catch the grease running through. No can do on the Weber. The grease tray sits on the actual grates if used on the Weber, so any grease running in the trap will go through the hole and through the grates. That said, I ordered some silicone plugs from 鶹 (they are high temperature resistant) and plugged the hole. You can also just leave the hole as is. I haven't cooked anything yet that generated so much grease that it ran down the hole. Lastly, this thing is a beast at 29 pounds. I don't store it in my grill because I don't want to encourage rust, so I clean it and move it inside using a Camp Chef storage bag that I got from 鶹. It can be a little wearisome, but a minor obstacle. Frankly, the weight of the griddle gives me great confidence in it. Anyway, so far, this thing has been an absolute pleasure to use. Have made several batches of cheesesteaks, and will be firing it up for some Benihana fried rice this weekend. Really happy with the purchase.
