Precisely locate electrical boxes without measuring
Twice as easy - with no measuring
All you have to do is insert the target into the outlet box with the arrow on the target pointing up and then install your drywall. Next, confirm the directional arrow on the back of the locator is also pointing up and then slide the locator over top of the target location. The locator will snap into place. With the box located you simply mark the drywall over the box, cut out the access hole and you are done - perfectly.
Find and mark hidden boxes
No more lifting and lowering heavy drywall sheets multiple times. In three easy steps you'll be done: Just insert the Blind Mark targets into your electrical outlet box with the directional arrow pointing up. Install the drywall. Slide the locator over the drywall with the arrow on its backside pointing up until it snaps over top of the target and then cut the hole in the sheetrock.
Ideal for the remodeler and DIY
The Blind Mark XT comes with 3 target magnets, 1 target locator magnet, and a rugged carrying case.

- Reviewed in Canada on December 8, 2022Verified PurchaseI had to cut sockets in OSB (not drywall), and this tool helped me a lot. No measurements and no taking the sheet off the wall. Depending on the socket type and your cutting tool, you may be hitting that thin wire that inserts into the socket hole. So far it held up but I think in my case the lifetime will be limited. Given the price that might be fine.
- Reviewed in Canada on December 27, 2024Verified PurchaseThis product works as described. The only issues I've encountered are that I used it incorrectly once (arrows down instead of up) and once I forgot that I had placed a marker behind a sheet of drywall. The only issue that wasn't user error is that he pins that load into the threaded screw holes are very tight in metal boxes. I tried to crimp one with pliers so it would slide in better, but it broke the pin, that marker still works, though. Other than that, this is a worthy tool, easily made my money back in a day through the efficiency gains of not having to measure out electrical boxes.
- Reviewed in Canada on January 18, 2018Verified PurchaseThese are a real time saver. No more wasted material from incorrect measurements. The magnets are very strong as you can see from the picture, they are holding on a desk that is 1" thick so 5'8,1/2 or 3/8 drywall is not a problem. I should also mention they fit various style gang boxes including the pictured plastic boxes and steel boxes. Only regret is that I did not find this product years ago!
**update** I have used this product for a few drywall jobs now and the only update to note is when cutting older steel gang boxes, I make the cut about 1/8" inside the lines with an oscillating tool so not to over size the hole. Other then that they work perfect an have been bang on every time.

- Reviewed in Canada on November 22, 2022Verified PurchaseI have done a fair amount of drywalling and one of the biggest headaches was always measuring and pre-cutting the outlet holes only to find you measured incorrectly once the board it in position. This tool saved that headache entirely! I have used it on four outlets so far and it worked perfectly on all four. I would certainly recommend this tool to anyone doing drywalling!
- Reviewed in Canada on October 4, 2021Verified PurchaseVery simple product that does its job.Make sure the finder magnet is right on top of the box magnet, you can wiggle it a bit to feel the strength of the connection. There be probably a few mm play to it but that ok the outlet cover will hide it.When cutting the drywall make sure to cut it a tad on the outer marked outline not on the line itself so you can fit it over the box.
- Reviewed in Canada on June 25, 2021Verified PurchaseI used this item for a basement renovation. It's a great product, but there are 2 issues with it that prevent me from giving it full marks. I think another buyer mentioned the first big issue is that the box template seems 1/2 inch bigger along the bottom of the electrical box if you cut out the template. I learned to cut the bottom shorter to get a perfect fit. The second problem is you can't use this item with full outlets. You have to take out the outlet first before using this tool which doesn't make it as useful for jobs that have electrical already completed.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not for Australia / New Zealand
Verified PurchaseThese looked great and would be a handy addition if your putting up your own drywall/gyprock in the USA. I got them but they do not fit the AU/NZ size standard size wall plates. I returned them with no issues. Bummer! The magnets seemed pretty strong to me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than expected - Great for DIYer
Verified PurchaseThis review is for homeowners or DIY'ers. I bought this for a home renovation project where I have 38 receptacle boxes to cut drywall around. I took a little extra time with the first couple to ensure accurate alignment and reliability. There is a small amount of play but once I got the hang of the positioning I was happy. The magnets work pretty well on 1/2" (12.7mm) thick lite drywall although I'd suspect it not being great for 5/8" (just a guess). I'm not in a hurry so taking the extra time to position these for a nice fit worked well for me. Yes, it's slower than a Rotozip but I like having a better fit and mudding less. If you only have a few boxes to cut out then it's probably not worth it. I had a variety of receptacle boxes from both Home Depot and Lowes, some thick, thin, deep, shallow, etc. and these fit them all. I even used it on a round light box. To that, I drew the line around the box and then diagonals from the corners to find the center to drill the hole. Would be great if both pieces had a 3/8" hole in the center for drilling light boxes but I know they sell another version for that instead.

4.0 out of 5 stars They work fine, strong magnets find each other and align accurately.
Verified PurchaseI bought the set with 3 targets, 1 locator and hard shell plastic case. The plastic storage case is important because the spring wires on the target magnets are vulnerable. The snap on my case is weak but a rubber band works. These things actually work quite well with single and double gang plastic boxes. Works best with single layer sheetrock and the magnet strength will position your cut lines accurate. All my cuts have a tolerance better than 1/8". It will work with double layer 1/2" sheetrock but the magnet grip is weaker which requires more care aligning the cut lines. BUT -- the target magnet requires about 3/4" of open space to fit into the front of the box. Two cables of 12 or14 gauge wire in a single blue box is no problem (6 coiled wires). But if you have crowded boxes, you may have to strip all excess cable sheathing first, or really compress your wires to make room for the magnet. With a properly installed nail-on box, you will set several sheetrock screws around the outer-most edges from the switch box, then trace and cut for the box, then finish the rest of your screws. I rated it 4 out of 5 because I could not use it on a couple two gang boxes that were too crowded but still met NEC fill.
