An additional feature is a visual reminder when batteries are low. Features simple, waterproof, push-button membrane pad operation. The Magna-Trak 102 locator also includes a power line indicator feature. The LCD panel visually indicates that a power line is present. Caution: this feature is an aid only and is not intended for locating buried power lines.

    Good quality and High Sensitivity, good for thick surfaces or metal / pipes deep in ground or under ice but not useful for metal, pins under thin surface or with other metal / debris around. For example, construction sites. Due to its 'high sensitivity', we could not use this locator for our Land survey work.
    Another point to consider is the power source. It takes 4 'AA' size batteries. You can use rechargeable as well as normal Alkaline batteries.

    This unit seems well built and has worked very well in my short time of use. The Hide function worked very well as if helped me find a property corner that was only inches from a steel post. The only issue is the battery compartment is a little difficult to remove and reinstall the batteries. Otherwise it would be a 5 star review. I am a retired land surveyor and use it to locate corners on my rental properties.
