Product description

We're on the level. Leveling, measuring, and stud finding tools are accurate, compact, and easy to use. CRAFTSMAN stud finders can accurately identify stud edges or center points as well as energized wires. Our three laser distance measurers provide accuracy measurements at the click of a button. Two out of the three will also allow for easy area and volume calculation capabilities.

    I think it’s priced right and didn’t want to spend too much money on a “better” one since I won’t use this often. Here are my two cents on this tool. I tried it on different spots yesterday and it worked as expected. The only issue was that the first attempt, I marked one edge, placed the toll on the ground to nail the drywall. Grabbed the tool to take a second reading on the same spot and it gave me a wrong location for some reason, but the first reading was correct though. On the second attempt, it found the edge and I marked it with a pen, kept holding it until it found the second edge, and it worked. Did that three times on different spots and it read as I expected.

    Its not very precise but it work alright. It looks better than it works. An important caviat is that it doesn't come with a battery (which is a 9V which is quite expensive as it turns out). It beeps in an approximate location and I'd really recommend you read the instructions and follow them (yes, for a stud finder) as its not precise enough to guess things.

    I've had a couple of cheap stud finders, this one does just what you need it to do. It's a good price, especially if it's for your house to use it once and a blue moon. I would just recommend taking the battery out when you're done with it.

    Worked like a charm! I had no problems with the stud finder. Maybe the people who had problems with the ones they had should follow the instructions. Hold the button until it goes off, then move the stud finder slowly. Not rocket science folks.

    Purchased for light duty household work. After finding a spare 9 volt battery hiding in the back of a drawer, I put it right to work checking a wall to see where I needed wall anchors or if I could just tap directly into a stud.

    Had no issues working it, just placed on the wall, held the button down, waited for it to stop beeping then slid it across the wall (making sure NOT to release the button) marking locations where the light came on and it started beeping. Mapped out the whole wall in about 2 minutes. Put up the shelves finding the studs exactly where the finder said they would be.

    Probably wouldn't go using on the job site as the build quality is lacking a bit, but for home use it's perfect. Would recommend for DIY and general home maintenance tasks.

    After fighting with two fancy detectors with screens, adjustable depths, etc. and not being able to get either of them to work worth a damn, I reverted back to a good old KISS principal unit, and I could not be more pleased.
