What is Hard Water?

- Hard water is a kind of water that contains calcium or magnesium mineral ions often in the form of carbonate.

- These ions do not pose any health threat, but they can engage in reactions that leave insoluble mineral deposits.

How to Descale/Clean the Kettle?

1. Fill the kettle with 1 cup of vinegar or lemon juice and 2 cups of water.

2. Boil the liquid and leave it for 2 hours, then use a cloth to clean and wipe.

3. Rinse the kettle with clean water, and dry with a soft, clean cloth.

4. Repeat as needed.

Note:

1. Please raise the lid to 80° by hands if you want to fill or clean the kettle.

2. The inner pot may build up some limescale due to the tap/bottled/mineral water. Kindly follow the descale instruction on the user manual to clean.

1) Bought this because it's "cool touch" meaning you can hold it with two hands while pouring, which is important for kids. While it's not "cool" to touch, kids are able to hold it with two hands to pour and it's not too hot. That was the main reason we bought it, so it works for our purpose.

2) You have to manually push the lid up to open it completely for filling. If you pop it open only with the button, it only opens part way, making it awkward to fill.

3) It is SO LOUD. You can't have a conversation over it.

4) It does keep water warm for a while, thankfully. Otherwise I would have sent it back due to the noise if I had to boil it frequently.

The parts (bottons mostly) feel cheap and low quality. Despite that, I was initially content with it because it looks nice-ish in the kitchen. However, I’ve had it less than a month and already found 2 unforgivable flaws and a couple annoyances as well. Unfortunately I no longer have the packaging so I can’t return it, but I will never buy from this company again.

Annoying:

- the lid doesn’t open beyond about 30 degrees, so it’s awkward to refill it from the tap.

- the lid isn’t see through, and there’s no level indicator on the product, so you have to open the lid and sort of tilt the kettle to peek in and try to gauge in the darkness how much water is in there. This is especially annoying (dangerous?) when the kettle has been recently boiled and there’s steam rising in your face.

Unforgivable:

- a few days ago the auto-off feature stopped working. It now boils forever unless I stop it manually. At best this is a waste of electricity and might boil off the water I was planning to use. At worst it’s actually sort of a dangerous fire hazard if it were forgotten for a longer time period.

- today I noticed the lid doesn’t sit flush anymore. When I close it, it pops up and sits 5 degrees or so off the top of the body. When boiling, this allows tons of steam to come out on 3 sides and causes a lot of condensation on top of the lid which drips off and makes a mess.

Bottom line: steer clear of this cheaply made product and invest in something that will last instead.

I've had my Cosori Electric Kettle for almost 1 year now (purchased Nov. 2023) and have been very happy with my purchase, not only is it a sleek & modern addition to my countertop, it's quite the reliable appliance to give consistent results, heating up ever so quickly - I'm always amazed at how speedily it comes to a rapid boil, then ever so faithfully automatically shuts off. I also adore the fact that this Kettle retains heat so well, so no need to re-heat for a second cup of coffee. One advice to you, who may re-heat leftover brewed herbal teas, is to keep an eye on the Kettle as some herbal brews can foam up in a closed Kettle, you wanna be close by to do a quick shut-off to prevent an overflow (yes, even a one cup amount can foam up & overflow - good thing I was standing right next to it). Overall, I recommend you purchase this Kettle, so much that it's a guarantee that when this Kettle no longer functions, that I will certainly buy another one as it is good value for money. I've had my Cosori Electric Kettle for almost 1 year now (purchased Nov. 2023) and have been very happy with my purchase, not only is it a sleek & modern addition to my countertop, it's quite the reliable appliance to give consistent results, heating up ever so quickly - I'm always amazed at how speedily it comes to a rapid boil, then ever so faithfully automatically shuts off. I also adore the fact that this Kettle retains heat so well, so no need to re-heat for a second cup of coffee. One advice to you, who may re-heat leftover brewed herbal teas, is to keep an eye on the Kettle as some herbal brews can foam up in a closed Kettle, you wanna be close by to do a quick shut-off to prevent an overflow (yes, even a one cup amount can foam up & overflow - good thing I was standing right next to it). Overall, I recommend you purchase this Kettle, so much that it's a guarantee that when this Kettle no longer functions, that I will certainly buy another one as it is good value for money. There is no after taste and the size is impressive - we've never had to fill it all the way, even when making coffee for four guests. Don't hesitate, buy it!

I bought this to replace an old GE kettle that had a similar base plate. The metal contacts on the bottom of the old one became corroded to the point that it wouldn’t power on any more. This has a similar design for the base and contacts, however the new kettle has a concave bottom. The concave bottom of the kettle, compared with the relatively flat bottom of the old one, leads me to think that the contacts won’t be as prone to getting wet if placed on a wet counter. This would be a design improvement, but it will take years to determine that for sure. I definitely have more confidence in the design on this one.

I like that the top of the kettle is big enough that I can wash and dry off the inside with a towel when needed. By contrast, my old kettle had a very narrow opening so I’d need to get creative when cleaning it. For reference, I typically wear large gloves and there’s enough room for someone with bigger hands than mine to wipe down the inside.

The fill marks are embossed on the inside of the kettle which makes it very easy to see while filling. I really like this design compared to my old kettle, which had a clear fill gauge located on the handle, which was useless.

The shape is dead simple, basically a pitcher, no weird bulges or creases, so it’s easy to see whether or not it’s clean. The only spot I’d be concerned with cleaning is the spout, which, because it is welded on, has a crevice along the weld and the side of the pitcher. The spout is big enough to clean by hand though, so it’s a minor concern.

Overall it feels sturdy, the walls are thick, it holds temperature well, the safety switch is loud enough to hear clicking, it looks nice, and I’m happy with it. I’d definitely recommend it.

Purchased April '24, Edit, January '25, This thing is awesome. I am a klutz, and when I whacked this thing against a cabinet (by accident, because I'm a klutz) it showed no damage. The cabinet didn't either, so that's a plus.

- It heats up quickly (although I find this statement to be subjective, being based on personal experience and desires).
- Holds a ton of water, just over 7 cups. You can make 5 large mugs of tea with that, or 7 small, one cup, cups of tea!
- The handle stays cool, even after boiling a full kettle.
- The body of the kettle does get hot, but I'm older and have toughened hands, so I can touch it it.
- It's heavy when it's full. Might be hard to lift and pour for smaller people, seniors, arthritic hands, or very small hands
- Does not dribble, and I find the handle pretty ergonomic. I do have tiny hands, but pouring for me is fine.
- Average noise level while in the boiling process. I've had a few brands over the years and none of them are quiet.

Cons:
- 2 Lid Issues. I would prefer it to pop straight up to a 90 degree angle when I push the button. Instead, this barely opens enough to put new water in. You can force it up to a (almost) 90 degree angle. However, I VERY often need to refill it right after I've used it. The lid get very hot, much hotter than the body does. So I need to fold up a kitchen towel to open the lid to refill it so I don't burn myself. This extra step is a pain.
- Ideally, I've realized I'd prefer a removable lid so I could fill it straight on my fridge door. The pop up lid gets in the way. So we do have to fill it using a separate pitcher, which means that sits out on the counter with the kettle and feels cluttered. This wouldn't be an issue for people who just use straight tap water from their faucet.
-Color...I also realize I want color in my kitchen. I'm soooo tired of the black and white options. But I'm finding the best products tend to keep their color options to a minimum.

And this IS a good product! Just a couple of tweaks I'd make to it :)

I've had this kettle for about 15 days and used it multiple times a day. I was looking for a kettle in which the only material hot water touches is stainless steel. This model meets that need. First, let me address a few concerns other reviewers posted. 1) The kettle is loud. Yes, it's not the quietest. And it is louder than my last one. But the extra noise didn't bother me. 2) The lid only opens partially after pressing the open button. I actually appreciate this design. I've used kettles whose lid springs open all the way splashing boiling water that accumulated on the underside of the lid. But this feature seems to drive some users insane. 3) Lack of controls other than the on/off switch. I had kettles that offered a dizzying number of settings. After the novelty wore off, I pretty much just used 1 setting. So, having just an on/off switch is fine with me. 4) It stains easily. This seems to be true. After just 15 days of use, I can already see a stain mark beginning to form. I only boiled filtered water in this kettle. So, this does bother me a little. But again, I've seen people posting pictures of their $200 kettle that also stains. So, at this price point, it's acceptable. Plus, I'm sure this also depends on the local water quality. 5) One reviewer finds the circular hole on the inside wall of the kettle "suspicious". Since my requirement was to have hot water touching nothing but stainless steel, I grew suspicious as well. But, this hole is covered by the contour of the lid when closed. So, it didn't bother me too much. Now, on to some of my own observations. 1) The advertisement says the outer body of the kettle is cool to the touch while the water inside is hot. This is only partially true. The area immediately below the lid (1-2in below) is very hot. 2) the water does not pour from the sprout neatly. If I tilt the kettle just a little too much, water can spill from the sides of the sprout. I believe the designer sacrificed functionality for a clean industrial design. I've had kettles that still poured nicely when the kettle is in an almost upside down position. 3) In my opinion, too much vapor/water droplets accumulate while water boils. This makes the top of the lid very wet, and as some reviewer noted, contributing to water damage over time. And lastly, 4) the power cord is too short.
