It has 30 individually wrapped figures, perfect for taking to appointments to keep the kiddos occupied.

My 6yo needed minimal help, if any, so I’d say it’s appropriately rated at 6-12 years.

The 30 sets split into two groups to make two larger figures, with instructions on the backs of the booklets. If you use these as party favours, that’s obviously not a future option.

I’ll be buying another variation of these for sure. They’re a hit in this household.

There are 2 different sets of animals that do this - one set makes a shark, and one set makes a turtle.

My 8-year-old has not yet attempted to make the shark or turtle; the instructions for this part are a bit more complicated/intimidating, not quite as straightforward as even I was expecting.

For $25.59 CDN at time of review this set is a fantastic deal for what you get, which is 30 ocean-themed mini building sets, each one being a 3-in-1 set. Whether you're filling loot bags, handing out classroom gifts, or just stocking up on rainy-day activities, this is an excellent value.

Each mini set comes with a small instruction sheet, which were terribly difficult to follow, even by this seasoned builder. Steps were confusing at times and I also noticed some minor inconsistencies in the instructions which could trip up younger or less experienced users. Also, the instructions are tiny and just overall poorly laid out.

The mini builds themselves are pretty cute, though the actual design of some of them are a bit simple and clunky. Kids probably won’t mind this too much, though my little one was unimpressed that some of the sea creatures were incorrectly named on the back of box. The combined large builds - a shark and a sea turtle - each made by combining 12 of the mini builds, are sort of ugly and not well-designed. We ended up completely skipping these ones, though I don’t even remember seeing any building instructions for them anyway.

What I was impressed with was that the bricks snap and fit together surprisingly well; these are a decent dupe for the more expensive brand name bricks.

Overall though, this is a fun, budget-friendly collection of mini-builds that are great for loot bags, treasure chests, claw machines, etc., and will keep kids entertained for a good chunk of time. Just be prepared for the odd clunky build and frustrating instructions. 3-1/2 stars.
