Well, this was the perfect replacement of the older model that unfortunately died. The price was not cheap; however, I am hoping that the quality of this "older model" will outlast a new model Broan that I can pick up cheaper. I could have picked up a new and cheaper unit, but the simplicity of simply sliding this new assembly into the old casing and adding one small screw to secure it was a no brainer and done deal. So, do I recommend this product? If you need a replacement for this assembly and want a easy fix, it's well worth it, thank you!

I rarely write reviews, but I just had to for this product. I replaced (or tried to replace) this same fan in another bathroom a few years ago. I did not want to pay for this one, so I bought one from a local big box store. It was the entire kit. I found that I could not even get the old fan out without wrecking the ceiling and then the kit would not fit correctly. I eventually had to hire someone to get it in and fix the ceiling.
When it came time to replace this same fan in our ensuite, I ordered this one. I popped out the old one and installed this one in 5 minutes. Yes it costs twice as much, but, take it from me, it is worth every penny for the time and frustration that it will save you!

The fan that was in my bathroom was probably the original from 1989. I tried to clean and lubricate it but it refused to work. I am not, by any definition, a DIYer so I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to get someone in to replace the fan and because it was so old, I wondered whether I'd need to change the ducting and get the strata involved. After doing some internet searching, I figured out the model I needed to replace the existing fan and found it on �鶹��. The construction of the fan itself was laid out exactly how mine was but the blades were plastic, while mine were metal. I figured I could order and if it wasn't the right one, I could return it. It was the exact replacement I needed and it only took me 5 minutes to install. It probably took more time to put the fan cover back on. It is a little louder than I'd like it to be but I also didn't want to have to go through the trouble of modifying the ducting to fit a quieter one. Great buy, easy and fast delivery (and it was a local place too, so I wonder if I had just called around if I could have gone to pick it up instead of ordering it).

I bought this to replace my Broan 684F-A motor that had died in my bathroom fan. I had originally purchased a full new kit from a local store but then quickly realized that to install it I would have to remove the existing housing in order to install it. So instead, I purchased this hoping that it would fit into my existing housing. The cost of this alone was more than the brand new kit but was easily offset by the lack of having to demo sheetrock to remove the wash ld housing. This was super easy to install, I literally just unplugged the old motor and plugged the new one in and went on my way. It's not the quietest fan, but it actually works well compared to my old one so I'm happy with it.

So I finally changed out my 20 yr old fan with this. It was still serviceable but I had a feeling it was nowhere near functioning at it's peak.Additionally I was tire of cleaning it . I figure 20 yrs is bout time to retire the old gal. It was key that I find the exact model so it's a smooth transplant without having to make adjustments to the vent. I made the mistake of purchasing one with slightly different measurements before that I had to return.I change it myself and the price was right. It's getting hard to find these old models. Everything locked into place nicely!!! I would say it's performing somewhere from 35% to 70% better than my old fan. A lot of times I don't have to leave the fan running another 10-15 minutes after I've used the can or took a hot shower like I did before. I highly recommend it if it's right for your bathroom.
