- Reviewed in Canada on January 23, 2018Verified PurchaseBy far the best bridge we have bought and come across to date. It looks great, designed well and durable to all the drops so far and there have been many.
The bridge is high enough that you can place additional track pieces underneath and even allows for some of the higher train cars to pass through. My son can easily stick his hand into the bridge to move the train without knocking anything over or derailing the train which is great.
The ramp inclines are standard that you would find with these wooden train sets. I wish they were slightly less of an angle as my battery locomotives struggle to make it up these when you have 5 cars attached.
My only complaint about this bridge is its HUGE. It is great value for your money but when fully assembled it will not fit it on my son's Melissa & Doug play table. After you add the incline/decline there is not enough room to attach the turns at the bottom. It works great if you play on the floor. I built some platforms using duplo Lego blocks to build an elevated platform so I could raise the turn pieces and have the 2 pieces of the bridge on opposite ends of the table. This works well but detracts from the look which my son does not care about, only me.
NOTE: the description says it can be separated into two pieces to make 2 smaller bridges and it can. However, you are only provided with 1 set of incline/declines pieces so you would have to purchase additional incline/decline pieces to use both or build an elevated turn like I did.
Pros:
- looks great
- durable
Cons:
- doesn't fit on my son's play table
- only 1 pair of incline/decline track
- Reviewed in Canada on January 25, 2019Verified PurchaseBought this set to go with our previous tracks from IKEA, they fit good enough (not perfect). Bridge is great, well made.
- Reviewed in Canada on January 15, 2017Verified PurchaseWe've had trouble in the past with suspension bridges that don't want to stand up properly on their own or connect securely to other track pieces. This bridge, however, has all that covered! Supports on both ends of each bridge piece, plus a support in the middle. And where the track connects to it, it has plastic underneath that supports the connection So you don't have to use a bunch of wooden blocks to help hold this bridge or its connections in place :)
- Reviewed in Canada on January 5, 2025Verified PurchaseThere is nothing to dislike. My grand children loved the bridge when train goes over the bridge, and when they let the cars go under the bridge. It gives them an idea about the way bridges are constructed..
- Reviewed in Canada on February 4, 2016Verified PurchaseThis is HUGE...Very well made, cute, detailed and sturdy. I find it a little difficult for my kid's small hands to push a train thru the two bridges attached to each other, however there isnt any rules in custom train builds. You do get one set of (1) Ascending and (1) descending track, so if you want to sepereate the two bridges you will need those two extra pieces. Very impressed with the build
- Reviewed in Canada on January 12, 2017Verified PurchaseSolid and kid loves it.
- Reviewed in Canada on June 21, 2022Verified PurchaseGreat Bridge, however some trains don't go underneath it well
- Reviewed in Canada on January 16, 2016Verified PurchaseVery well concepted to keep it in place and avoid to fall or open.My children love it and did a circuit each time they play the train.
The only "concern with all wooden train bridges is some (most) of trains or wagons do not pass under the bridge.
In this case, the top of the train is passing short of space but some wagons with higher top would not..

5.0 out of 5 stars Molt maco

5.0 out of 5 stars Brio quality is worth the extra
Verified PurchaseIf you are looking at this toy then you probably don't need convincing of the entertainment or educational merits of wooden railways, or wooden railways suspension bridges, so I will focus this review on comparing my daughter's experience of this Brio design with the very similar, but slightly cheaper, Bigjigs Suspension Bridge.
In short, the Brio one is worth the extra few quid because it is of better design and build quality. The ramp track is easy for little hands to connect and sits flush with the bridge spans and the floor level tracks, whereas the Bigjigs bridge we had was more fiddly to connect and didn't quite fit properly, causing the track to stick up like an uneven pavement.
The Brio design also has the supporting pylons built-in, making it quite stable when trains are being repeatedly pushed up and across it, whereas the Bigjigs version has separate wooden supports. The latter sounds more educational (i.e. it's something to build) but in practice my toddler found the Bigjigs bridge too frustrating to play with independently, since it easily fell down when trains are being pushed across it and was fiddly to rebuild.
This is reflective of my broader experience of Brio versus the rest; my daughter's early sets were non-Brio and seemed fine, but once you have tried a few Brio sets you can really see the difference in the thought and care that goes into their design and construction and you will never look back.
