- Reviewed in Canada on May 31, 2025Verified PurchaseI am renovating my kitchen so needed something to get me by while we are in construction. This oven is amazing. Easy for my kids to use as well. Love that it’s family size and has so many different options. Happy I went with this Breville - highly recommend it
- Reviewed in Canada on September 11, 2021Verified PurchaseBought this toaster oven with airfry partly because we had the previous model. Main reason is their toasting ability with a Bagel mode. Bagel mode is important for bagels, english muffins, pizza reheat, etc. Not only did they add Airfry but an enhanced convection mode. The added lighting is a great feature (light shines on the food, for example comes on 30sec before toast is done so you can see the brownness - very thoughtful by some designer) Overall a great unit - if you have previous model you’ll be amazed how quiet this one is in regular convection mode, almost can’t hear it; of course enhanced or airfry mode has the fan noise. For us best possible combination unit and was surprised at the increased quality and convenience features.

The oven has remarkable precision for the degrees reached, which several other brands cannot offer or match... It also replaces my conventional oven in several tasks which is much more practical, the circulation of hot air cooks at the same time. perfects foods like chicken or beef without any problem and leaves the meat tender and delicious. It can be used as a slow cooker or dehydrator, additional functions which are a plus.
I also use it for frozen pizza, you know like me how hard it is to cook the pizza evenly when it is frozen and of course the bottom rack on the plate which is included and the pizza setting it cooks evenly perfect way if not better than a large oven
The LCD dial is very simple and the buttons are user-friendly and well thought out another big plus.
Many people talk about the sound it emits like in the video, I don't think it's that bad
- Reviewed in Canada on October 18, 2024Verified PurchaseJust received my Breville smart oven air fryer
BOV860BSS and it is ready to use.
The size described in the specifications :
27.9 H x 50.8 W x 38.1 D
Actual size:
28 H x 47. W x 32. D
If I knew it was smaller I might hove ordered the Pro if it is also smaller than described .
Thank you!
- Reviewed in Canada on November 4, 2023Verified PurchaseWe had a Breville toaster oven for 10 years and it was a wonderful appliance. We used it every day until the on switch became touchy and the fan became very loud. This new one is even better. The light inside is a great feature and we look forward to many good years with this one too.
- Reviewed in Canada on June 10, 2025Verified PurchaseIn the past I had different manufacturesToaster ovens, but none compared to Breville. I did have a higher version of the Breville Smart Oven for a few years, but I had to give it up because of counter space in the apartment I moved into. And because of my aging body, I couldn't lift it anymore. With this version of the Smart Oven-Air Frier I could not be happier. It fits perfectly on the kitchen counter, and I can lift it up on my own. In addition, it has all the features I am interested in. Thank you.
- Reviewed in Canada on July 2, 2023Verified PurchaseI bought this for our son because we like ours so much. It toasts many slices of bread very evenly. We use ours frequently as an oven, love the reheat setting. I don't use the air fryer too often but our grandsons use theirs.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just about perfect (BOV-860)
Verified PurchaseI searched for months to find a new counter-top oven. Our Cuisinart had been through two children and more than a few burned tortilla shells. I wanted a toaster-oven that had a high output convection feature, was noted to air fry, had a nonstick interior AND would fit on the kithcen counter in our 174 year old house here on the coast of Maine.
This oven does what it says. Just about all of it! Every feature, not without the odd quirk here and there, works as described. Like everyting from a cast iron skillet to this oven, there are nuances in programming, timing, and maintenance.
- Toast. Even browning. Not hard.
- Bake. Even bread rising, weekly loaf comes out more evenly for less energy than my range oven.
- Air fry. It does! Larger batch than a stand alone air fryer!
- Roast. 3lbs chicken!
- Reheat. Great that it goes down to 120F.
A few tips? Observations and remarks answered from others:
- Do not overload when air frying. Cook in batches. Do not over oil the product.
- Do not turn the program selection knob to fast it skips. Like the first press of the light button from “sleep”, the first program selection wakes up the display.
- Be smart and check the oven temperature with a good probe. Its quite close and fairly even but not perfect.
- Don't whine about the fan noise. It’s a convection oven sitting on your counter. What did you expect?
- It gets HOT on the top and sides. I put together my own bamboo board and silicon feet on top. Reach out and I'll tell you how.
- Cleaning is not without its challenges but easier than our previous oven.
This is a good appliance!
Since December 2023 I've prepared: - Air fried roasted toasted walnuts with smoked paprika and sea salt. - Blueberry pie (Hey! Its Maine!) - Skillet blueberry corn bread (Hey! Its Maine!) - Bacon and bacon - Air fried 'broasted' chicken - Baked haddock (Hey! Its Maine) - Weekly loaf of bread - Toast, bagels, this and that
Look, this is a pricey investment. But you get what you pay for and the Breville BOV-860 does the job unusually well. If you are up for the investment, this is a good product that I strongly recommend.
PS. To be completely candid, I had troubles with pre-sale support that were not resolved. I tried to reach Breville through several different channels for specific dimensions which were never provided. I did find the details, on my own, but would have appreciated answers from the manufacturer. All’s well that ends well but there is room for improvement.

5.0 out of 5 stars Efficient, easy to clean, no whine/buzz
Verified PurchaseWe've been using this regularly for 3 weeks, and are very pleased. While we still use our oven for many things, for smaller tasks, this heats up much faster and dumps less heat into our kitchen as a result. I was worried about the very vocal complaints about buzz/whine noise, but our oven is completely silent. I can hear the noise in a common YouTube video showing the issue, so my ears are quite capable of registering that frequency. My guess is that there is electrical noise present in some people's home wiring, as several folks reported that both changing to a different outlet silenced it and that replacement ovens did not.
Our unit came with a nice right-angle plug, unlike the easy-grip plug I've seen in other pictures. This one is still easy to pull out, but certainly not as easy for arthritic hands as the cool loop style plug that our Breville immersion blender has.
I monitored the power use with an Emporia smart plug, and it's obvious that the oven is controlling the elements continuously based on temperature feedback--the power use drops off in a smooth slope after the oven hits the set temperature. The screenshot shows running the oven in Bake mode for 8 minutes and then running it again with exactly the same settings (second batch, reheating pizza). It consumed just under 1400W for the first half of the first batch, and in the second batch peaked just over 1000W then dropped down to 400-500W for the remaining time. Each bar is one minute of time, so it took 4-5 minutes to get up to 350 on the first batch, and about 1 minute to get back up to 350 on the second batch. It appears to consume 0.1W once the backlight turns off.
Cleaning is quite easy; a huge improvement over our older traditional toaster oven. The mirror finish on the door handle smudges even with freshly washed, non-oily (Colorado winter alligator scaly) hands, but that also wipes off with one pass of a micro fiber. The pull out crumb tray is awesome.
The racks have stops that prevent them from pulling out too far, which some of the smaller variants of this oven lack. The racks pull out roughly 3/4 or more before hitting that stop--plenty of room to place/remove items. The magnets on the door that pull the rack out are a nice touch, though closing the door while the rack is in that partway out position is not smooth, but also isn't awful, there's just more force required than you'd expect.
Our upper cabinets are 10" above the oven, and after running the oven at 450 for 10 minutes, the bottoms of the cabinets measured 90 degrees F, and did not get any warmer. The backsplash behind the oven measured 94F, and didn't get warmer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Somewhat disappointing
Verified PurchaseI chose this unit and not the Pro due to size. I didn’t want to overly crowd my space slotted for it. They throw lots of heat and you need air space around it for safety. Here’s the problem: because it’s a little shorter in height, I find I cannot slide the air fryer basket into the proper position ( middle position) because it will not fit over the roaster pan to catch drips placed on the bottom rack. Foil covering the bottom rack does not work well depending on what you are cooking. Drips run off. Seems the difference in height causes a loss of a rack level on the inside. What the unit cooks well it does very well. Toast, hot dogs, pizza, preprepared frozen fish things like that are no problem. Guess I’ll be avoiding stir fry beef and broccoli in the future- maybe that was meant for the Pro model. Has anybody else noticed this?
