As a long-time fan of Breville appliances, I have always found their products to be of top-notch quality and built like tanks due to their die-cast construction. I own several Breville appliances, including their toaster, juicer, panini maker, and food processor. Naturally, I had high expectations for the Breville InFizz™ Aqua Sparkling Water Maker. First Impressions: The first thing I noticed after unboxing the InFizz Aqua was how light it is. This is not typical of Breville appliances, which are usually made from heavier die-cast steel. Despite its lighter construction, the InFizz Aqua does not feel flimsy or less durable by any means. It still looks very sturdy and robust. Setup and Use: The bottle had a very strong gas smell when I first opened it, likely due to some sort of preservative gas inside. However, this smell dissipated after thoroughly washing the bottle. The machine did not come with a CO2 cylinder, which was expected, so I had one ready. The setup was extremely easy, and I was able to use the machine in less than 10 minutes after reading the instructions. Performance: The InFizz Aqua is designed to carbonate water only, unlike its sibling, the InFizz Fusion, which can carbonate a variety of beverages, including coffee and juices.     This is not a cheap device, but it is beautiful. There are plastic carbonation units readily available in the market that cost much less and work very similarly. I do expect this one's build quality will mean it'll last much longer, though.

    It's important to note that the Aqua is strictly for making sparkling water. You can, of course, add other flavours to the water by mixing in different drinks (e.g. adding some juice). If you're looking for something that will allow you to infuse flavour as part of the carbonation process, though, you're looking for the Aqua's sibling, the InFizz Fusion.

    Using the machine is very simple. It might take a few tries to figure it out, but it's far from rocket science. You attach the bottle, and pump the handle until you get to the level of carbonation you prefer (you get a feel for it). The included bottle holds 1L and also comes with a cleaning brush since it's not dishwasher-safe.

    It's a little annoying that this doesn't come with a CO2 cartridge (especially at the price point), but the good news is that it's not some custom cartridge. It's a standard CO2 cartridge, the same as used by their primary competitor that you can pick up just about anywhere.

    If you want a carbonation machine that actually looks nice on your counter, this may be what you're looking for. If you would like to make more in the way of flavoured sparkling waters, spend the extra $50 and upgrade to the Fusion.
