5.0 out of 5 stars Exceptional quality. Versatile and easy to use.
I am incredibly impressed with this Braun Hand Blender. Like with other Braun appliances I’ve had in the past, this hand blender is exceptional quality. The main unit is a larger and heavier than I expected, but to me, this just means that it is made of sturdy materials – not just all plastic. The set comes with a number of helpful attachments. The main attachment that I use the most is the blender stick. I feel like a professional barista when I use it! The set includes a 20-plus-oz plastic blender jar for making smoothies and other blended foods, or I can use my own. I can easily adjust the speed by the dial on the top and I can either pulse the machine or hold it at a steady rate. I’ve used it for a number of different recipes and it always blends up smoothly. There’s also a whisk attachment that does a great job whipping up frothy eggs or homogenizing my salad dressings. And there’s a chopping bowl attachment that’s perfect for chopping up small quantities of fruits, veggies, nuts, garlic, or even crushing ice. It’s very easy to put the attachments on or switch between them. They just click into place. I have found that it’s a lot quicker and easier to use this hand blender than pulling out my big blender or food processor. Plus, I can use it right in the bowl or pot – like when creaming soup ingredients. I keep finding more ways to use this and I just love how versatile it is. And it’s easy to clean. I highly recommend this hand blender set! So much to love about it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful, Versatile, Helpful Accessories, Easy Clean Up
Very powerful stick or immersion blender from Braun, this thing makes quick work of minor chopping/pureeing jobs. I first used the chopper (like a small food processor) to dice up some onions, giving it 3 pulses, and ended up with near pureed onion mush. One pulse - maybe 2 - is all you need given the power of this blender. Since I had gone a bit to far with the onions, changed tack and decided to make salsa, using the chopper next on jalapenos and serranoes. Finished in the beaker, adding roma tomatoes, lime, etc. and ended up with a smooth salsa with some very tiny chunks, excellent consistency and good, fresh taste. It only took about 4 pulses using the stick blender in the beaker to finish that, so again, not much effort or time needed to get the desired end results.
Next, used a combination of the blender (regular wand) and the whisk attachment, also with the beaker, to make some mayonnaise (first time doing that) and it came out pretty good; I think the addition of a little dijon mustard really helped the flavor.
Clean up is easy, and the bottom of the stick does come off for cleaning - it’s not mentioned in the instruction guide (see below) or completely intuitive, but pressing the side buttons does release that part from the stick.
A couple of disappointments: there isn’t a lid for the plastic beaker and the multi-language instruction pamphlet isn’t very helpful. A lid would increase the convenience of that beaker, allowing you to also use it as storage. I was expecting the instruction guide to be more thorough, providing information on the use of the immersion blender and the various parts and accessories; instead it’s bare bones, mainly compulsory safety information. While neither of these detract from the power or usefulness of the immersion blender, it’s surprising for a leading name brand.
Overall, a truly powerful blender, some useful accessories, great addition to most kitchens.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid build, versatile tool, poor user's manual
Initial impressions:
- Looks and feels solid, sturdy.
- Easy to use, with two buttons and a dial. The buttons are for regular mode and turbo mode and the dial offers the power settings for both. The attachments were easy to add and easy to remove.
- The documentation that Braun includes with this device is ... how shall I put this ... lacking, one of the worst manuals I've seen from a major brand kitchen appliance. I'm docking it a star for that, as having a good manual is pretty basic stuff.
- A couple of decent attachments, so you get not only the hand blender, but also a whisk and a chopper, plus two containers: a small one for the chopper and a larger measuring container, presumably to help you measure and mix ingredients for a smoothie or something similar. It's missing the puree tool that some of the other Braun hand blenders have offered. (On the other hand, the reviews of the Braun puree tool have been pretty negative, so perhaps not missing much there.)
I've never used a hand blender before and, as noted above, the documentation didn't really help, so I checked out various online sources to give me some pointers. I used the blender and accessories for:
- Making a milkshake
- Chopping nuts
- Chopping onions
- Blending raspberries into a paste
- Pureeing sweet potatoes to use in a casserole
The milkshake and the raspberries were the easiest tasks. The chopping tasks I had to babysit to avoid over-chopped and under-chopped pieces. I should note that this is also a problem with the dedicated chopper I've been using; it's just really difficult to get uniformly-chopped pieces from any chopper.
For the sweet potatoes, as noted above, there is no pureeing tool with this product, but I used the hand blender to get me about 85% of the way there, one small circle at a time, and then finished up with the whisk. The result was a smoother puree than I've been able to get with the hand mixer I had previously used.
The 500-watt motor is powerful, more powerful than I really needed for any of these tasks, as I only took it to 21 and turbo mode just to see what it would do, not because I needed the power.
Braun claims that the design of their blade area helps to reduce or eliminate splashing. I don't know about eliminating, but I was able to keep the splashing to a minimum.
Braun also claims that you can "take full control using only one hand as you seamlessly switch between 21 speeds and the one-touch TurboBoost feature...." I don't know what their hand looks like, but trying to hold the button and rotate the dial at the same time required some contortions. For really fine control of the speed and power, you need both hands.
I like that everything but the actual motor is dishwasher safe, making cleanup much easier.
Overall, I'm pretty pleased with this product. It will replace my current chopper and I can definitely see some tasks where this will be superior to my hand mixer and my full-size blender.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent combination of accessories
I've owned a different immersion blender for years and...never use it. I actually didn't get this for the blender portion (but it is nicely built). I wanted the whisk and the chopper, and those both work fantastically well! I use the whisk for making homemade whipped butter, as well as scrambled eggs. I mostly use the chopper on vegetables like onions, and it's like a food processor but much easier (in my opinion) to clean afterwards because it's nice and small (yet holds a good amount of vegetables).
The main unit is built well and feels very sturdy, yet isn't super heavy or hard to hold. I like the dial to adjust the speed. My older one just had a switch with two speeds, and this Braun has a lot more options. I haven't used the turbo button yet because I haven't needed it - it's plenty powerful for what I used it on. I imagine that the turbo button is more useful with the blender attachment.
All in all, I think that this is a fantastic set because of the whisk and the chopper. I should also note that the container is great, especially when whipping scramble eggs because the sides are so high and nothing comes out when whisking.

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful, precise, and easy to clean — my new favorite kitchen tool!
I wasn’t expecting to love a hand blender this much, but the Braun MQ5020M completely won me over. I use it almost daily now — from soups to smoothies, whipped cream to homemade mayo, it handles everything I throw at it with ease.
What really impressed me is how powerful and smooth it feels in the hand. The motor is strong enough to blend even tough ingredients (like frozen fruit or cooked veggies) without any strain. The variable speed dial gives me great control — I can start slow to avoid splatter and ramp it up as needed. It doesn’t jerk or sputter, it just powers through.
The ergonomic grip is actually comfortable, and the attachments are super easy to swap out and clean. I love that the blending shaft is stainless steel — no weird staining or plastic odors after heavy use.
Cleanup is a breeze too. A quick rinse or a spin in warm soapy water and it’s done. I also toss the parts in the dishwasher with no problem.
Bottom line: if you're on the fence about this hand blender, just get it. It’s one of those tools you’ll wonder how you ever lived without.
