    Purchased the bracket so that I could switch from landscape to portrait easily and quickly as the 90 deg tilt on the ball head was not holding the camera. The bracket keeps the weight of the camera over the center of the tripod and does not suffer from the baseplate slippage that was annoying. My camera is a Nikon D800e and adding a 70-210mm lens can add a bit of weight. I like it a lot, and feel that it does a great job for what I need. The bracket can cover the battery bay but I can place the bracket so that the battery bay door still opens to change the battery on the fly and the bracket is still functional on the tripod.

It works great -- it is solid and sturdy and no fear of it breaking, of course it does add a bit of weight to the camera but that is obvious and from time to time the alan wrench screws need tightening but other than that I have never had an issue. Highly recommend.

    Es de muy buena calidad. Viene desarmado y trae dos llaves tipo Allen para poner las dos piezas juntas, la otra llave es de otra medida para poder quitar los tornillos de fin de carrera en los extremos de cada segmento, yo tuve que quitarlos para que la L asentara correctamente en la base de mi trípode que es sólo de tornillo sujeción, no tiene riel, pero el soporte trae para entrar en un riel en ambos segmentos de la L.

    Lo recomiendo, este tiene un agujero centrado en el segmento corto de la L que otros soportes no tiene, muy útil para que la distancia al plano focal sea la correcta en caso de querer hacer tomas para formar una imagen de 360 grados son problemas de alineación.

    L brackets are used to mount cameras with heavy (often zoom) lenses on tripods in portrait mode - i.e. with the camera vertical. Nor are they optional, as a normal mounting will simply not be strong enough to hold the camera and it will rotate until the lens points towards the ground. Manfrotto make an L Bracket available here for £119. This one is far less expensive, easy to assemble, holds the camera very firmly and seems to me robust enough to last long term. The bracket will have to be loosened but (on my camera) not removed completely to change the camera battery if the battery slot is in the camera base, but that is true of the more expensive L Brackets too. I am pleased to have acquired such a functional item at such a reasonable price.
