Product description

From writer/director P.T. Anderson comes the turbulehnt behind-the-scenes story of an extended family of filmmakers who set out to revolutionize the adult entertainment industry in the seventies. Idealistic producer Jack Horner (Burt Reynolds) has always dreamed of elevating his films into an art form. When he discovers young actor Eddie Adams (Mark Wahlberg), Jack begins to turn his dreams into reality. Under the stage name of Dirk Diggler, Eddie soon gives the adult entertainment world a star the likes of which it has never seen. But the rise to fame has its costs, and soon Dirk finds himself sliding down the slippery slope of sex, drugs and violence. The only question: can he get himself back together before it's too late?

Je ne savais pas si je devais en rire ou en pleurer¡­
    J'ai achet¨¦ ce disque pour me refaire une id¨¦e sur la question. Apr¨¨s l'avoir revu 2 fois, je dois dire que, pour moi, c'est un tr¨¨s bon et long film (pr¨¨s de 2H30). Film au vitriol, tr¨¨s sarcastique, avec un parfum d'ironie et de contestation de l'ordre ¨¦tabli, qui laisse un peu un go?t am¨¨re dans la bouche, o¨´ se c?toient :
    - une m¨¨re (pas nette !) en rupture affective avec son jeune fils de 17 ans Eddie Adams (r?le ¨¤ mon sens difficile et tr¨¨s bien interpr¨¦t¨¦ par Mark Wahlberget);
    - elle le jette ¨¤ la rue (le p¨¨re est en dessous de tout);
    - un jeune homme compl¨¦tement d¨¦sabus¨¦ et qui cherche au d¨¦but ¨¤ gagner sa vie honorablement;
    - qui se fait rep¨¦rer par un c¨¦l¨¨bre r¨¦alisateur de films pornos Jack Horner (excellent Burt Reynolds), pour son look, la taille de son sexe apriori hors du commun et ensuite ses talents d'acteur;
    - les insens¨¦s moments de gloire d'une grande star du porno qui, au bout de quelques ann¨¦es, ayant progressivement gliss¨¦ dans la toxicomanie et les exc¨¨s en tout genre au d¨¦triment de son jeux d'acteur, se voit remplac¨¦ par un acteur plus jeune;
    - puis la rupture avec son mentor et la d¨¦cente aux enfers;
    - diff¨¦rentes tentatives infructueuses de faire autre chose (dont la chanson, mais sans aucun talent) et la spirale de l'¨¦chec, la drogue et ses trafics, la d¨¦ch¨¦ance, la prostitution, l'alcool, la violence, les escroqueries, les agressions, le vol;
    - jusqu'au retour de "l'enfant prodigue" avec le repentir aupr¨¨s du "p¨¨re spirituel Jack" et de sa compagne Amber (tr¨¨s belle prestation de Julianne Moore), le pardon et le retour aux sources;
    - tout cela sur un super "bande son" recr¨¦ant magistralement l'ambiance des ann¨¦es 70/80 avec un encha?nement de titres dont certains tr¨¨s connus et encore pr¨¦sents dans ma m¨¦moire.
    Une ¨¦poque, un style et une musique, rien de tel pour s'y croire. Ah, le Disco¡­. En quelques mots : abandon, sexe, pornographie, succ¨¨s, folie, drogue, alcool, d¨¦pravation, violence, bagarre, arme ¨¤ feu, cambriolage, d¨¦tresse, pardon, amour, renaissance¡­
    C'est un film ¨¤ ne pas mettre dans toutes les mains. Difficile d'¨¦mettre un avis sur la notion de la moralit¨¦ des protagonistes. Qui sont les m¨¦chants ? Qui sont les gentils ? Y en-a-t-il ? Je me pose encore la question. Tout semble finir plut?t bien. Je n'ai pas ¨¤ juger.

Ils ressemblent comme deux gouttes d'eau ¨¤ Dirk Diggler.
    Le r¨¦alisateur sait rendre toutes les images et tous les plans int¨¦ressants . La reconstitution des seventees est top. La bande son extra.
    Nous vivons dans un monde qui cultive l'insignifiance. Ce film en est le t¨¦moin.
