The idea behind this device is that it only takes power from the USB port. It does not appear as a Bluetooth device to any host that it is plugged into. Audio input in transmitter mode and audio output in receiver mode is accomplished through the 3.5mm standard audio jack.

This Bluetooth 5.0 device has only a single button and no display, so you might wonder how it handles pairing when multiple devices are available. The manual indicates that you can press the single button repeatedly to cycle through the available devices until you find the correct one. This works surprisingly well and keeps both the device and the interface small, simple, and ergonomic.

This little dongle is super useful when you need to convey some analog audio over Bluetooth to or from a device that doesn't have Bluetooth built in.

It's particularly handy if you need to get some audio from an analog audio source to an older powered pro audio speaker from the pre-Bluetooth era. Bluetooth 5.0 has good fidelity and low latency, so it works well in this application.

This Bluetooth transceiver can act as a wireless audio host or a wireless audio client. I was interested in the latter for driving wired headphones. Unfortunately, this device posed some serious limitations for my intended application.

The device is fairly easy to pair with a smartphone or PC. Holding the sole button put it in pairing mode: press it more than once if necessary until a blue light flashes for receiving mode; flashing red is for use as a transmitter. The device identifies as "Wireless Music Adapter" in Bluetooth device scans. Once paired, playing audio on the host causes sound to come out on the 3.5 mm headphone jack. A single click on the button alternately pauses and resumes playback, which is nice. The device has no volume control so you need to put hands on the host device or use headphones with their own volume controls.

I found the device be powered as a receiver by a USB power bank. Unfortunately, the device draw so little power that smart batteries do not detect significant current draw and shut down, typically in about 1 minute. I did find one of my fully charged power banks ran the receiver indefinitely, but when I tried again later, when the battery was down to 80%, the Bluetooth receiver kept turning off within a minute. I concluded that battery operation is largely unworkable unless you find a battery with constant low output.

The transceiver accepts a standard 3.5 mm three-pole headphone plug. Since the documentation mentions headsets, a four-pole plug should work as well. While sound is produced on left and right sides of stereo headphones, the sound is the same on both sides. Bluetooth is a designed with stereo, so why must this device collapse it into monophonic sound? I will guess the answer is the use of a lowest-cost digital-to-analog conversion chip.

The quality of sound is poor. Besides being mono, music is robbed of most of its low and very high frequencies. All that remains is a tinny or hollow representation of lost richness. Fidelity may be lower than AM radio. If you happen to plug in high-grade in-ear-monitors, constant slow clicking and very fast clicking is audible. Make sure you use only cheap speakers and low-grade headphones. Why does this device connect by modern Bluetooth 5.0 only to generate audio using horribly substandard DAC circuitry?

This device might work for an audio relay system where fidelity is unimportant and wall outlet power is always connected. Set aside expectations for dedicated music enjoyment.

This bluetooth transceiver is probably about as cheap as they come. I found that it did work as advertised, pairing with my bluetooth headphones was very easy. When plugged in I held the button down for a few seconds and the light started flashing red. I put my headphones into pairing mode and they found each other and connected within a few seconds. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy pairing was, especially given that it doesn't have any screen or buttons to choose which devices to pair with. Unfortunately, this is about where the positives end. I got this so that I could connect it to my receiver and listen to my records through wireless headphones. It definitely does achieve this, but the sound is very disappointing. Some other reviews have mentioned that the audio comes through as mono. I can confirm this unfortunately is true. I confirmed this by setting it in transmit mode and connecting my phone to the input. I tried playing a stereo audio test track that plays audio in each channel separately. When the left channel played the audio could be heard in both sides, there was no audio at all when the right channel was played. This confirms that this device is not truly outputting stereo audio, which makes it completely useless for music playback if you care even a little bit about sound quality. This is unfortunate, but not totally unexpected given the very low cost of this device. Most good bluetooth transmitters cost at least twice what this one does. If you are going to be using this transmitter for things like audiobooks, podcasts, or phone calls, it might work okay for you. I would highly recommend staying away from this if you are planning on using it for music playback.

I was excited for this transmitter. I use a different transmitter when flying and my main issue is that it's rechargeable, so I have to bring a separate cord to charge it. This having a built-in USB made that very easy, but it didn't work well as I hoped.

PROS:
- Convenient USB plug so no need to charge

CONS:
- Constantly disconnected: it was so hard to keep this connected. It would start with weird sounds on the headset, then finally disconnect.
- Does not maintain pairing: once it's unplugged, it forgets that it was connected to my Airpods Pro. I had to pair it so many times on one flight.
- While the USB power seemed like a good idea, for one flight, it made it so that the plug was upside down. Not a big issue normally but the light indicator that tells you whether the adapter was ready for pairing was only on one side. So I had to hold a mirror under the USB to see the light coming from it and see if I can now pair my Airpods.

Overall, would not recommend getting this.

Both times it made a connection; and then shut down.

I don't need it for anything that I can plug it into with the USB plug; so it's no use for anything I use.

I had hopes for it; but they weren't met.
