This is an adapter that allows a non-Bluetooth device to receive Bluetooth audio (i.e. “receive mode”). It can also give Bluetooth broadcasting ability to a non-Bluetooth device (i.e. “transmit mode”). It has a USB-A port and standard 2.5mm audio port. The instructions aren’t very clear, so I will explain how it works.
When used with a PC in transmit mode, you plug it into a USB-A port and use the small display to pair it with a BT device (e.g. headphones). Once paired, it shows up on your PC as an audio device called “USBAudio2.0” and can be set output and input for sound (it appears as a speaker and microphone in Windows settings). It doesn’t show up as a BT device and Windows doesn’t know it has anything to do with BT. You PC will send audio to this “speaker” and it’ll transmit it to whatever BT device you’ve paired it with.
When used with audio equipment in transmit mode, you have to give it power via the USB-A port, so you will need to use a USB adapter and cable (not included). If using a TV, there likely is an available USB-A port you can plug it into. Then you pair it with a BT device and use the included audio cable to plug into the audio out port of your TV or audio equipment. It’ll transmit the audio from the audio cable via BT to whatever BT device you’ve paired it with.
When used with audio equipment (e.g. old headphones or car stereo) in receive mode, you have to power it via the USB-A port, pair it with the BT that’s transmitting (e.g. your phone) and plug the audio cable into the aux or audio input port and the BT audio will be sent from the adapter through the audio cable.
I found the range of the signal to be similar to regular PC BT adapters and it was very easy to pair with nearby BT devices.
