Advertises that there's 16m colours, but that's not the case. The white is not customizable at all - it's way too cool and borderline blue. It's a shame because the hardware is possible to get a warmer white, tested it while using the gradient mode (orange yellow and "white"). The software is just very limiting in what colours can be used.

This pair of RGB smart light bars from Reno Supplies is currently listed for $33.99 after a 21% off discount and there is an additional $10 coupon available which works out to be $23.99 at the checkout. At this price point, it's definitely a decent deal.

The light bars are pretty lightweight and compact, which makes it easier to install behind the tv if preferred. The brightness is decent and the colour selections work just how I expected for the RGB lights. There are quite a few colour modes available to play around with the app. The light bars don't run hot even after using them for hours.

The required app is Smart Life, which is basically the app from Tuya. The only difference between the two is that the Tuya Smart App uses the Tuya logo and elements, while the Smart Life App removes all Tuya logo and elements. The interface and functionality between the two are practically identical. In Google Play Store, Smart Life currently has 4.6 stars and 10M+ downloads. Whereas Tuya has 4.6 stars and 5M+ downloads. A lot of Chinese-made IoT devices use either of these apps for the software so it's probably not too unfamiliar for many.

In general, I am pretty comfortable/familiar with these IoT or smart home devices, however, this product did give me a hard time getting it up and running during the initial setup. For some odd reason, I could not get it paired with my Google Pixel 6 Pro running Android 13. On the other hand, I could get it paired (detected) with my old Google Pixel 3 Pro running Android 12 without any issue. Both have Bluetooth enabled and the same set of permissions granted so I'm not quite sure if it's because of the OS version or what that's causing the light bars to work on one but not the other. Either way, once it's detected and paired, the control is very easy and intuitive.

One thing I would like to make a note of is that Reno Supplies has awesome customer service. I was able to get help from them which makes it a positive experience overall.
