    That is my body on the ground over there. Lifeless.

    "It’s a game, lives being weighed and discarded as chess pieces, all in pursuit of the final objective. The capture of the white queen."

    Honestly, how dare this book?

    "In this realm, knowledge is power, and no one knows better than I the danger of being powerless."

    I don’t really even know where to start with this review. I think I experienced every emotion while reading this, and she thicc, so there was lots of time to experience everything.

    I kinda hurt now. Summer was such a beautiful character. I hated her at times and loved her other times and hurt with her, connected with her, cried with her. She felt the highs and the lows so strongly, with her loud thoughts, her loneliness and terror.

    "Are Alice and I cut from similar cloths, full of torn pieces we desperately stitched together, hoping no one would notice how mismatched they are?"

    Summer and Alice are peak besties and I need more friendships in books

    The men in this book. WHERE DO I EVEN START?? Connor, the Headmaster, the Stranger, Max. Just to name a few.

    Don’t even talk to me about the end. I need 3-5 business days to process that, followed by a 3 week vacation and tears.

    “I’m always proud of you, babe. But I want you to be proud of you.”

    The amount of highlights and notes I took throughout this. Unless you spell it out, I will miss hints and such so imagine, for a second, how USELESS I was in trying to figure out the Strangers identity, literally flipped back and forth 50 million times. Which then made me feel bad for Connor and my mind was just as loud as Summers while reading this.

    “Well, I saw this girl at this party and all I could think was, Her. She is the reason I didn’t date before.”

    Go into this book blind, you’ll thank me for it. Just know that it’s a dark academia/romantasy with lots of spice, mystery, hot men, unaliving besties, and lots of magic, angels, shifters, vampires, and fae.

    I finished Blood & Betrayals and I have been thinking of it every day since. IT'S THAT GOOD. This book is the perfect blend of dark fantasy and romance and academia.

    𝙁𝙚𝙖𝙧, 𝙁𝙪𝙧𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙁𝙞𝙧𝙚. 𝙏𝙤 𝙆𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙞𝙨 𝙉𝙤𝙩 𝙀𝙣𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝.

    I am absolutely in love with the cast of characters. Summer was such a beautifully written character and how the authors navigated her mental health felt so real. The imposter syndrome, gaslighting herself, isolation as a form of self-protection... I saw a lot of myself in her struggles and internal monologue. To watch her grow and let in people and allow herself to be loved was beautiful.

    The friendship between Alice and Summer is GOALS. The Disaster Duo 4 eva. Alice is the definition of a good friend and I love her SO MUCH!!
    Sweet baby angel Connor is perfect! No notes. 10/10 angel wings.
    Summer also has a non-corporeal stalker who sounds pretty hot (!!) and there are unalivings happening on campus so there is plenty of action and intrigue.

    The book is thicc but didn't feel it at all - each scene felt purposeful and intentional to advance the plot and characters.

    Highly, highly recommend.

    This book was so good! I love a Dark Academia Romantasy, and this fit the bill. I enjoyed the characters.

    Summer and Alice were so fun as unlikely besties! Connor is just that genuinely good guy that almost seems too good to be true. I love his persistence in pursuing Summer, despite all the walls she carefully constructed around her heart. His family and their bond was so great!

    I love how Summer's walls slowly started coming down as she gets to know and accept her friends in her life.

    While the book didn't need to be over 1,000 pages, I devoured it. The ending...I can't even. I'm shook. I don't know how I can possibly wait months for book two. Cliffhanger to end all cliffhangers.

    Just wow. Loved it. I need more.

    It was a longer book than I've normally read, but omg, it kept you engaged the entire thing! Absolutely loved every moment, and I need more!!!!

    What a ride this book was! it starts on the slow side but picks up speed as the story progresses.
    Blood & Betrayals showcase an array of great characters that will leave you wanting you got a spot at Avalon U – you know, if we forget about all the unalivings going on.

    Summer was a very complex character and I think it's important to remember that she has undiagnosed BPD as it explains a lot of her erratic behavior. I think she was very lucky to benefit from such a great found family between Alice, Connor and the Morningstar brothers, and even the Stranger, whoever he is (and I'm so dying to know!!).

    Alice was my favorite character! Her unhinged spunk and undying loyalty made her the perfect bestie, and the fact that she's vampire royalty is just the cherry on top.
    Connor was so good to Summer and helped her grow a lot during this first instalment. He's such a good soul 🥹

    Now, let's talk about Stranger for a moment because holy goodness of growly shadow daddy, I need me some of that! I'm so looking forward to learning more about him. And speaking of people I need more of, the broody headmaster also makes the top of the list, if you know what I'm saying.

    All in all, Blood & Betrayals might be a girthy book, but it will suck you in and you won't be able to put it down. If you're looking for your next dark academia fantasy read with all the paranormal creatures of your dreams, then check this one out!

    There are very few books that genuinely emotionally destroy me. The characters are just so relatable, so lovable, so ready to destroy your heart completely.

    I swear you will become coming immerses in Summer’s story that you won’t even notice it’s over 1k pages. Honestly I needed more, I didn’t want it to end.

    My sweet baby Connor, that angel is the perfect golden retriever character who loves with his whole chest. He was exactly what Summer needed to feel safe enough to learn how to love. When everything was crazy and overwhelming, he was this safe

    Okay but as soon as you read this book you will know what scene I am about to gush about just from this line. Picture this, our sweet angel has finally had enough of our fierce freaking badass Summer teasing him and turning him down and leaps over the railing in the middle of a game because she’s wearing the other teams jersey. Anyone who went through or is in their sports romance era… oh boy, you know.

    The Mystery. I have so many questions! So much I can’t wait to find out, and this is exactly what I want out of book 1 of a 5 book series. You are perfectly introduced to this world and characters with just enough hints to their backstory’s that will leave you well and truly hooked. This book is full of little hints that will be revealed later on and I am loving trying to put things together.

    Then we have our Stranger. I love him. I will forever be weak for a protective possessive stalker (in fiction) and the Stranger will make you weak at the knees. You will be secretly rooting for this guy the whole book. And I LOVED Connor, the Stranger just sees Summers darkness and matches it with his own. He is our, very literal, shadow daddy and I can not wait to learn more about him.

    As I write this review I am realising there are far too many characters that deserve mention… from Summers Twin Flame bestie Alice to berserker Max… the most welcoming and loving Farrah and her angel boys…. Especially our broody angel Rafe…. Alexis and Jeanette definitely know how to write characters that will steal your heart.

    It’s safe to say I can’t wait for the next book, I just know it’ll ruin me even more than book 1 has.

    I loved this book from start to finish (even though it broke my heart and tore my soul into pieces)! It takes place at a magic university, has lots of different magical species, and everyone is HOT🔥!! What's not to love? Like really though, I'm attracted to everyone in this book. Summer? Connor? The headmaster?? THE STRANGER??? ALICE!!!!! THEY'RE ALL HOT (including all the other side characters too). If you want to lust after every single character, this is the book for you!

    One of my favorite things about this book is the friendship between Summer and Alice. It was so beautiful to see these two go from having no one to having someone who is always there for them. And I'm pretty sure I highlighted 90% of Alice's lines because she's hilarious. Their relationship is one of those magical things that you dream about having when you're a kid. They're soulmates (just like the authors) and every scene with them together made me smile. If you're looking for stories with genuine female friendships, this is the book for you!

    This book is also SPOOKY! Admittedly, I'm a scaredy cat so I might be biased, but there were parts that gave me chills and had me tearing up from fear. There's a mystery murderer and nightmares that gave *me* nightmares. If you like a little horror that's not too terrifying but can still get your heart pumping, this is the book for you!

    Now Summer. Summer is for the people that have trust issues from past relationships, both familial and romantic. She is for those that are trying to forget their past and move on with their life, but the past just seems to keep coming back up and you're going to have to find some people to help get you through this. She is for the NERDS because she loves learning and is attracted to intelligence. She is for the ones who are learning to fight to protect themselves, who are learning to become threats. She is representation for people who have borderline personality disorder but never got (and never will get) a diagnosis. She's for those that enjoy sex (and having it A LOT) and will comfortably discuss safe sex/birth control on page. Summer is all of this and more and she is so beautifully written, just thinking about everything she's gone through makes my heart ache. If Summer is for you, then so is this book.

    This is my most highlighted book ever (over 1.5k highlights) and it will definitely be reread many times in the future. It has been added to the "All time favorites" shelf. I loved it so so much, and I hope you do too! 🖤
