Blender 3D Incredible Models: A comprehensive guide to hard-surface modeling, procedural texturing, and rendering Kindle Edition
鶹
Learn all about hard-surface modeling in Blender while creating three increasingly complex projects: an assault rifle, a sci-fi racing ship, and an army tank
Key Features
- Explore Blender’s wide array of 3D modeling tools and features with key images printed in color
- Learn techniques for texturing, rendering, and rigging
- Employ these lessons to create increasingly complex hard-surface models
Book Description
Blender is a massively popular and powerful 3D program, with versatile modeling abilities that make it a great way to enter the 3D modelling world.
Blender 3D Incredible Models is an extensive guide for those new to hard-surface modeling with Blender, helping you understand the complete range of tools and features it offers and how to employ those efficiently to create realistic models. You’ll be led through progressively more challenging modeling projects— from an assault rifle and an army tank to a sci-fi spaceship model—giving you a glimpse of all the skills you’d need in Blender’s vast ecosystem of features and functionality, ranging from textures, rendering, and UV mapping to lighting, rigging, and beyond. Each engaging project builds upon the last until you’re equipped with everything you need to tackle your own modeling challenges, whatever they may be.
By the end of this Blender book, you won’t just know how to create the models covered here, but you’ll be able to turn your own concepts and references into 3D Blender models too!
What you will learn
- Dive into the fundamental theory behind hard-surface modeling
- Explore Blender's extensive modeling tools and features
- Use references to produce sophisticated and accurate models
- Create models with realistic textures and materials
- Set up lighting and render your scenes with style
- Master the use of polygons to make game-optimized models
- Develop impressive animations by exploring the world of rigging

- Reviewed in Canada on July 3, 2024Verified PurchaseI like the projects offered to model and they are really challenging to complete. However, the book is very poorly constructed, it clearly lacks steps and information to move forward with projects and understand the methodology behind the work. Several times I found myself stuck in a project because information was missing. The images provide sound and are not always very clear. Honestly you will find much better advice for progressing in blender than this book. I only recommend it if you specifically want to model a Scar-F and a tank. It's still frustrating to spend on a product when the YouTube videos of the same person often explain it better

3.0 out of 5 stars tecniche un po' ridondanti

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Blender Resource
Verified PurchaseI'm new to blender, and have been bouncing between youtube videos. I found the author's youtube channel, and that lead me to this book.
The book does a great job of teaching the tools, and then bringing them together to build complex models.

4.0 out of 5 stars Incredible resource for both beginner and intermediate 3D Artists
Verified PurchaseAs someone who would consider myself an intermediate level 3D Artist, having some experience with making models for a few games, I was looking for more resources that i can reference in my daily workflow. Following the tutorial for the SCAR in this book thus far, I have been able to produce decently high quality models in a fraction of the time it took me previously. this book is an AMAZING resource, and i would 1000% recommend it to any students.
HOWEVER. I have a few small complaints. I will list them from least severe to most severe.
(note: i have not finished the entire book yet. this is going on what I have read thus far, approx 100 pages)
-For anyone following the tutorial step by step, the link to the SCAR reference is not provided.
-some steps in the tutorials are not optimal ways of modeling.
-Page 54 is missing from the paperback copy. in it's place is a duplicate of page 55. relatively major detail is lost if you are a beginner following the tutorial. this can be chalked up to a misprint on my copy, but I am unsure.

2.0 out of 5 stars Da evitare
Verified PurchaseIo eviterei questo libro, è un po' confuso nelle spiegazioni. I principianti lo troveranno troppo difficile e in non principianti non hanno bisogno di leggerlo perché alla fine spiega solo le basi di blender.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad book but has a lot of rather lazy errors/lack of attention to detail
Verified PurchasePicked up some decent techniques but there's some serious flaws that need to be addressed.
1. No download links for reference images. it expects you to find your own references. The FN SCAR that you make first has a lot of different variation so this has proved easier said than done. they also use a simplified version of the gun so it gets difficult to see what matches what etc.
2. No scales/sizes given. You only one reference image for the first model so i've spent a lot of time guesstimating what the sizes could be. how hard is it to put "scale 1.3 on the x-axis" for example. come on!
3. It skips over steps such a quite obvious bevel on the front of the gun with no mention of it whatsoever.
4. WHERE THE HELL IS PAGE 54!
Rookie errors that make a big difference. I had some experience of blender beforehand and was looking to upskill. it would be rather difficult to follow if you have no experience
