Beyond Suspicion: Russell Williams: A Canadian Serial Killer Kindle Edition
鶹
This is the story of serial killer Russell Williams, the elite pilot of Canada’s Air Force One, and the innocent victims he murdered. Unlike other serial killers, Williams seemed very unaffected about his crimes and leading two different lives.
Alan R. Warren describes the secret life including the abductions, rape and murders that were unleashed on an unsuspecting community. Included are letters written to the victims by Williams and descriptions of the assaults and rapes as seen on videos and photos taken by Williams during the attacks.
This updated version also contains the full brilliant police interrogation of Williams and his confession. Also the twisted way the Williams planned to pin his crimes on his unsuspecting neighbor.

- Reviewed in Canada on February 23, 2025Verified PurchaseIf you read a lot of true crime, don't bother buying it. I rarely do this, but I was going to send it back.I almost feel like I was tricked. I don't know how this author can be a "bestselling author" and I don't say this in a mean way. There is no substance to this book. I almost feel that it was just a quick money-grab for the author?
There really is no new information in the book. The only reason I kept it was because there was one or two pieces of info that I didn't hear before. It seems like he just cut and paste information from the internet. He just reports the facts. That's it. There is no personality assessments or anything that interesting.
"A New Kind of Monster" at least has some setting, some context and some opinion.
That being said, maybe it's just not his area to write in. His book on human traffickers might be better.
As well, there really isn't much information on Russel Williams anyway. He was extremely private and most likely will take his secrets to the grave.
And the book was slender. It took me a day to read. So it isn't worth the money really. If you have a lot of money and don't read true crime often, you could buy it. But if you want more bang for your buck and want a better written book, try other authors
- Reviewed in Canada on January 5, 2019Having read other books on the horrific crimes of now-former Canadian Forces Colonel Russell Williams, Alan Warren’s book Beyond Suspicion is by far the best. Warren paints a picture of the notorious killer as an above-average person, a man of honour and respect, raised in the military tradition – the reality could not be farther from the truth.
A sexual sadist, Williams truly led a double life, one his family, friends, and wife were unaware existed. Warren does a fine job of informing the reader about Williams’s early life, one of education, wealth, and privilege and – like notorious serial killer Paul Bernardo (who knew Williams) – early trauma, which likely had a significant impact on his view of relationships in general, and women in particular.
To the outside world, Williams appeared normal, even charming, as he moved up the ranks in the Canadian military, all the while escalating his sexual perversions, stalking women, breaking into dozens of houses, and stealing underwear, escalating to explicit photos. Growing bolder with every crime, Russell was finally caught, tragically after stealing the lives of Jessica Lloyd, and Cpl. Marie-France Comeau.
This is an excellent book.
- Reviewed in Canada on October 23, 2020Yet another book by Alan R. Warren I could not put down once I started it. Alan keep it’s too the facts
- Reviewed in Canada on January 13, 2019Verified PurchaseThis book is not as good as the other two books on RW. The author wrote little about RW early life. The book was mostly a description of events with little attempt to explain what made the person tick.
- Reviewed in Canada on December 19, 2020Verified PurchaseRead the other book on this killer so when seen this one, was curious to see if anything was missed in first book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Riveting and chilling
Verified PurchaseAuthor Alan R. Warren provides a fascinating portrait of a real-life Jekyll and Hyde. Russell Williams was the stuff of our worst nightmares, the good-looking psychopath next door. This book is a page turner so absorbing and shocking I could not put it down. For fans of true crime, this is catnip and my TBR pile just got a lot bigger because I've ordered the rest of Mr. Warren's books!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating read
Verified PurchaseThis is a quality publication which presents one of the most notorious criminal cases of recent times: (Colonel) Russell Williams.
See on YouTube the now-textbook detective interrogation of this military-base-commander-turned-serial-killer/sexual- deviant and his eventual confession.
The author takes us through the main case facts and concludes that RW is a freak case that could not easily have been prevented.
Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beyond Suspicion
Verified PurchaseThis book is the story of Canada's Colonel Russell Williams , a burglar, rapist and murderer. He did most of his evil deeds in his own neighborhood and no one suspected the well liked Colonel. It also told of his attacks and his interrogation by police, as well as, his sentence in 4 cases.,

5.0 out of 5 stars Scary people in this world
Verified PurchaseSad, but very interesting. Held my front attention. Couldn't put down my tablet. Well researched and story told well. There are more persons like that out there, so we all need to be more aware.
This guy's brain should be examined after death. Might be very helpful in diagnosing future killers before they make headlines.
