    The orignal 1997 anime is by far the best interpretation of the source material and if anyone ever read the manga this version is fairly tame compared to books or even the golden arc version of this series but it's still great to watch on blu ray finally. It's a darkly tragic, devastating, powerfully moving and action-packed thrill-ride that's as brutal as it is heart-breaking in its story and character-development. Each episode brings more adventure, suspense and shocking revelations all the way to its deveasting conclusion. Leaving a midcredit scene with the hope of a return and brutal vengeance to follow. Guts is certainly one of the most tragic and traumatized anti-hero's.
