    I purchased these specifically for when I go away and stay at a hotel. I have an ice maker at home, and fill up the bag before I leave, and it kept my cooler cold. When I arrive at the hotel, I dumped the ice, and repeated for when I came home. The functionality of these ice bags are amazing. The build quality is better than expected. It’s a thick plastic that is durable. I am able to use it again and again.

    I got these bags because we recently got into camping this summer and needed ice bags to help keep our meat cold. I am thinking how I could have also used these bags to defrost the frozen piece of meat by putting water in the bag and submerging the large chunk of meat in it. It comes with a sturdy seal and it looks like it would have done the trick! It is a large bag and I particularly like that it comes with a spout to remove water afterwards. I cannot wait to fully test this when we go camping, but I already think it will make such a huge difference in helping us keep our meat cool and help us defrost it.

    Every year, for over a decade, I’ve done the same thing: bought a gigantic turkey for Christmas and Thanksgiving, got it home, looked at my fully-packed refrigerator and freezer, dumped it in a ice chest/cooler, then spend the intervening time constantly dumping ice in and around the turkey, trying to make sure it’s either defrosting safely or staying cold enough. These bags may be game changers - they hold a substantial amount of ice or water, seal tightly, and the spout makes it easy to pour off meltwater.

    I’m looking forward to giving them a thorough workout on my next turkey. *RECOMMENDED*

    These bags are great- they have replaced the bag of ice in my cooler and the pool of melted ice water that inevitably collects in the bottom. I can put anything in the cooler without worry that the food will be drowned. The bonus is that you can drink the water once it’s melted. I was able to keep hydrated for more than a week at Burning Man by using these wonderful bags. They are sturdy and well made as well as easy to use.
