This review is for the BQLXBABLT brand Cat Tarot Cards.

The art is extremely important in a set of tarot cards, and the little details that carry from one card to another help to realize the connections between them. This set, sadly, misses much of that. The art looks full-on A.I. (a problem all on its own both ethically and as an artist, but I digress) and, while it hits most of the high points on the symbolism of each card, it misses out on many of the seemingly minor details that have come to be associated with each card in favor of “Aww, kitty!”.

The art, honestly, isn’t bad...it’s often weird as a result of forcing a cat’s general shape to fit the shape of human bodies, but it’s not BAD. A good lot of the cards simply feature a seated cat, gaze forward but off-center, with a few props or little details added to make it clear which card it’s intended to be. Again, there is too much “Aww, kitty!” going on.

Image quality is a slightly fuzzy (as expected of A.I.), but print quality seems good. Color is nice enough, and the side of the deck was printed with a reflective foil type coating in a nice shade of purplish blue.

The cards themselves are stiffer than the typical cheap tarot deck, about as stiff as the typical card from a trading card game. The deck comes in a very nice box with a guidebook that has quite a lot of information. I haven’t gone through the guidebook to confirm how accurate it is compared to the traditional tarot card meanings, but it looks impressively detailed at a glance.

Overall, I’m not thrilled about the A.I. aspects of the art. I was even tempted to give it one star because of the ethical aspects of how A.I. art programs work (soulless massively widespread theft, essentially), though that would ignore the quality of the deck and box. In the end, I decided to rate this as I would any tarot deck. This one gets four stars for good quality but simplified imagery.

If you’re going to make a cat-based tarot deck, you might as well go all out and make it unique instead of a riff off of the classic rider-waite deck.

Although I can understand why an adult could enjoy the kitty tarot card set, I think it may be directed at the younger seers.
The set is perfectly acceptable as a positive design image that will attract the younger set. As there is a small but sufficient guide book, this tarot set would be fine for display or occasional use or play.

These are super fun cards and come in a really nice box. The finish on them is super slick, which makes them shuffle really easily, almost too easily for me. They’re so smooth that they end up slipping all over the place, and personally, I prefer a little more grip on my decks. The blue edges are gorgeous though, whatever that metallic finish is called, it’s really pretty and gives the deck a polished look.

Now for the real talk, if you’re not already familiar with what every card in the tarot means, this is probably not the deck for you. There’s no real imagery to pull meaning from. The cards just have a cute stock image of a cat and the name of the card, but no symbols or details that would help with intuitive reading. If you’re already a tarot pro and you love cats, then sure, this deck could be a fun addition. But if you’re still learning or want to read without constantly checking the book, I’d pass on this one or save it for later in your journey.
