Natural sunscreen
The first thing I noticed was how different the texture is compared to conventional sunscreens, it melts slightly on contact with skin and spreads easily without that typical white cast that zinc products usually leave behind. I've been applying it before my morning walks and it's held up well even when I've worked up a sweat. "Beef Tallow Sun Balm: 100% Grass Fed Beef Tallow" by Dersie is a nice nourishing balm for the face.
The ingredients contains moisturizing oils and zinc oxide to soothe skin. The ingredients:
TALLOW, ZINC OXIDE, RED RASPBERRY SEED OIL, CARROT SEED OIL, COCONUT OIL, JOJOBA OIL, BEESWAX, SHEA BUTTER.
The cream is actually very light and is invisible. I use it as a day cream, but can also use it as a night cream. There is no white cast, but there is also no SPF information. I don't know if the zinc used is non-nano. I have a UV mirror compact to show if you've missed any areas on your face when applying sunscreen. I'd say this balm is not strong enough to provide adequate sun protection.
At the time of this review, this is selling for $28 CAD for 60g. It is on the pricey side for being nourishing and sunscreen because you'd need to apply so much for it to protect you from the sun without a hat. As a day cream, I like it a lot. It has reduced redness, oiliness and works well under makeup. 👍
