This is only ‎4680 Milliamp Hours, whereas the original one from the factory is 5100 Milliamp Hours which is about 10% less than the original battery. The battery was delivered with a 50% charge, which is fine as that is what is safe for shipping.

When you first put this in your computer, the computer has to learn the charge/discharge characteristics of the new battery. The computer charged the battery to 100%. The first time I used the computer on battery, when it hit a 50% charge the computer shut down (after about two hours). That is because the computer battery management system thought that the voltage at 50% charge was the empty voltage.

I charged the computer to 100% and then left it on battery. This time it dropped off steadily until it hit 25% charge and then shut down (about three hours). I charged it again, and the last time the battery lasted to about a 5% charge before shutting down (close to 4 hours).

At this point I am satisfied that the battery management system is calibrated to the discharge characteristics of the new battery.

NOTE: to discharge it, I set the battery management in preferences to never shut the screen off, screen brightness at 3/4, left a screen saver running and left the mail app open. The hours quoted here are not realistic for actively using the computer, which would likely be considerably shorter if you spent most of the time watching videos.

At this point I am satisfied with the results, but I wish I had bought the 5200 Milliamp hour battery that was only a few dollars more.
