This handrail is a perfect solution for anyone wanting an easy quick installation of a safety hand grip (rail) without drilling or making a mess. I like safety hand grips that have superior gripping power and a well-designed and working gripping mechanism. This Bofflusa does not disappoint with two powerful 3.34-inch suction cups attached to a grab bar made of high-quality ABS plastic. ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) Plastic is a reliable source for heat, chemical, and abrasion resistance, dimensional stability, tensile strength, surface hardness, rigidity, and good balance of impact.

What takes this grab bar to the next level is the lock down lever with its Safety Sign Design – to lock and unlock suction cups one just lifts the two top levers that have a color indicator built into top portion of the suction mounts. The Green and Red colors are indicators for proper suction grip of a surface area, red means suction cup has a week gripping posture and green means maximum gripping power exist and in suction cups are in proper placement.

I learn as I go along. A month ago I might have thought that any grab bar will do--you just stick it on the wall and you're in business. But it's not that easy. I got three different grab bars. Only one sticks tight to my bathroom tile. So I've got to figure out why. First: each suction cup must fit entirely in one tile. Not even a tiny fraction of the cup can protrude over a grout line. That's because if any point at all of the cup loses suction the whole thing fails, and, if it straddles a grout line, suction is lost for the part over the grout line. Second (and this one I'm less sure of because one of the other bars does stick to my bumpy tile) the tiles must be smooth. Bumps in the tile can interrupt the suction and cause sticking to the tile to fail. One of the three has tight enough suction that it survives the bumps. But this one being reviewed is not a grab bar that can withstand the bumps. On my tile grid this one also can't be made to have each of the suction cups in a four inch tile of its own. This one came so close to working for me. Only the tab to use to release the suction was partly outside the individual tile area and that apparently was enough to cause the suction to fail. So the number of stars doesn't tell the whole story. Even if this grab bar did not work for my bathroom tile, it might work for yours. But, since one of the bars stuck like glue and this one did not stick at all for me, I can't really recommend it.

If you have an older model bathroom with the 3 inch square tiles, this still works! even if the suction cups are slightly over the grout lines, it is still secure.

The above being said, if you don't plan to remove it, i would still check (or have someone check) that the bar is still secure before you turn the water on...just in case.

There are no instructions. i installed it dry.

i kept the little plastic suction cup covers so i could protect the suction cups from getting scratches when moving from shower to shower for travel. I then lifted the latches and the little green/red indicators showed more red than green

i tried to center the suction cups in the centers of the tiles, and for the most part, i could. I'd say less than an 1/8 of an inch crossed over the grout. I pressed the bar into the tile and pushed down the latches. the red/green indicators were now fully green. Then i pulled it. i pushed down on it. i didn't quite hang from it, but i put a good part of 130 lbs onto the bar and it did not budge.

After my shower, the next day, I had to pack it for a trip, so i pulled up on the latches to remove it from the wall and it still did not move! So, there are a couple of little tabs on the suction cups. i started with the tab and peeled up whatever i could (and it wasn't much) around about 2 or 3 inches around the perimeter and the suction released.

Now, i bought this for traveling since we have been unable to procure the mobility rooms and most of the non-mobility rooms do not even have a towel rack in the shower to support my elderly person.

So, we'll see how long the suction lasts as i trek it from place to place. but, as new, its a keeper
