    Scales...they aren't what they used to be.  I found this out recently when my trusty old one died.  My scale has been vital to keeping off the excess weight I struggled to lose about ten years ago; it's my "daily check-in."  My first thought was, 'hey, no problem, I'll just use the one at my client's house.'  Actually, there's three.  One of them looks a lot like this one: a shiny piece of tempered glass with a big readout.  Trouble is, it's not accurate.  My old standby was very precise, and I know my weight to within a half-pound.  Hers is overly generous; I always come out about ten pounds heavier.  On the other hand, she bought one with an elevated readout, and no matter how I tinker with it, I'm always forty (yes, 4-0) pounds LIGHTER on that one!  Hers are both examples of the new, lower priced types of scales you might find at your local supermarket.  But if they're not accurate, aren't you literally throwing your money away?

    So I did a search and found three different "best home scale" lists.  THIS scale turned up in the #2 slot on two, and in the top 5 in the third.  I chose this one because the reviewers all mentioned how accurate it is!  Add to this that, yes, it's significantly lower priced than #1 made it my choice.  And it turns out to have been a wise one!

    First off, it's weighty; the platform has some good HEFT to it, and the stats show that it can bear up to 550 lbs!  While no one in my home comes anywhere near that kind of weight, my old standby, circa 2009, had a crack in the cheap plastic platform, making it malfunction.  Moreover, the display on this one is very brightly lighted!  The crisp, white LCD numerals against the black glass scale are super easy to read and just plain looks COOL.  Using known hand weights quickly showed me how deadly accurate this scale is.  It seems to be spot-on within 1/10th of a pound!  (And yes, you can set it to readout in Kg also.)  My very favorite feature, however, is that it is powered by three standard AAA batteries!  My last scale used a flat watch/camera type of battery that isn't available everywhere.  The AAA cells are cheaper and much easier to find!  There are few things more dusty, messy and debris attracting than a bathroom floor, but the black tempered glass platform makes it a cinch to clean.

    All of that adds up to the best bathroom scale for the buck, in my oh-so-humble opinion.  Now there's nothing in-between me and keeping my weight in check!
