4.0 out of 5 stars The cup holds over 8oz of fluid, is dishwasher safe, and can be used for hot or cold drinks

Despite the photos and size of the box, this cup is much smaller than I expected it to be. I have small hands and my hands fill the handles, so I suspect someone with large hands or lumpy joints might have some trouble with this. The cup comes with 2 different liquid dispenser inserts, one for 5 ml per sip, and the other for 10 ml per sip. It came with the 10 ml installed. The lid fits very snugly on top, so it might be difficult for someone with limited dexterity to remove. It has 2 max fill lines on the side. The lower line says that it is for 5 ml per sip and 10 ml per sip, the upper line says it's for 10 ml per sip and 15 ml per sip. The other side shows measurements with a maximum capacity of 250 ml. A cup is 236.6 ml, so if someone can handle 10 to 15 ml per sip, then it can hold just over a cup of fluid. There is also an optional mouthpiece to use while reclining. The bottom of the cup says that it's heat resistant to 100 deg Celsius (212 F, which is boiling water), and that it is both dishwasher and microwave safe. That said, it's still all plastic, so consider that before buying.

As a person with dysplasia(58F) I have learned to survive by holding sips of water in my mouth like a chipmunk and swallowing bit by bit. This is the first time I have tried one of these cups and it is very useful to me. Taking a sip of water now, I do not chipmunk it nearly as much and can swallow more immediately. Drinking this way is more comfortable

This cup comes with two attachments, a 10m(blue)l and a 5ml(white). However, if you want the sips to really be only 10ml or 5ml you have to pay attention to the max fill lines on the side of the cup. If you use the white attachment, it will dispense 5 ml only if you fill it to the halfway mark which will give you only around a half a cup of water at a time before you have to refill it. If you fill it to the 250ml mark, the cup will dispense 10ml if you are using the white attachment, or 15ml if you are using the blue attachment.

Good thing I can manage 10 ml sips even though I prefer 5ml sips.. On what planet does a person only need to drink a half a cup of water at a time? Not mine. I live in the desert, where it is well over 100 degrees four months out of the year and I can not afford to use air conditioning even a little, and I must drink a lot of water. The cup isn’t the easiest to open and close for someone elderly who might otherwise still like to be independent enough to fill their own cup.

Maybe this design is necessary, but what isn’t is they don’t warn you in the instructions about the max fill line situation. The side shows the max fill line, but it's hard to read. I almost missed it.

For the price I want special cleaning brushes included. Because the thing is hard to clean. You can tell by looking at it.0 I want cleaning brushes included and manufactured especially to fit this product.

. This isn't a realistic size for an adult cup. I wish it was bigger...But I'd like to see it mentioned in the included instructions about the max fluid line issue and include a cleaning brush.

To be fair this isn't a seller issue, this is a manufacture/design issue, and this cup is typical of all cups like this in this price range. The manufacturer targets these cups toward caregivers, not for people with dysplasia who lead active lives. Product receives 3 stars because it does work, is useful but needs improvement for certain populations.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great For Parkinson’s Patients

My partner has Parkinson’s. He has trouble with liquids (and hard candy). Aspiration pneumonia is a constant concern. He is forever saying it’s the choking that is going to do him in not the Parkinson’s itself. He learned some great tips from a speech therapist that he went to see for the choking, that has helped quite a bit, but he still occasionally has choking episodes.

While I was afraid he would balk at a “sippy cup” he actually was ok with it. He tried it out and seemed to like it. He doesn’t want to use it right away but is happy to have it on hand for the day when he will absolutely need it. He has already said he absolutely does not want to use thickeners for his liquids. This is a great alternative for that.

I even tried this out myself. It takes a little getting used to. I like that there is room for the nose, it has handles that make it easy to grip. The uniform size of the cup makes it stable when set on the table (spilling and knocking over drinks has been an issue).

There are two different attachments to allow for different sip amounts. The pieces are easy to clean.

I would definitely recommend this cup for those with swallowing issues.

I was very happy to get the opportunity to try this product. My son-in-law recently had a stroke, and I was trying to find something that he could try to hold (he has no fine motor skills on one side of his body and no feeling on the other). This cup turned out to be very helpful. It gives him some sense of independence when drinking liquids without spilling it, and it also helps him practice grabbing and holding the handles. He also has trouble swallowing, and this cup is working out very well to keep him from choking or aspirating. I highly recommend it.

It seems to be well-made, and it's BPA-free. It holds up in the dishwasher, but I've had bad experiences in the past with other plastic cups. After several washings at a high temperature, they cracked. I can't say if this one will do that, but I won't be drying it in the dishwasher at a high temperature.
