My four-star review is due to the claim that these are heavy-duty badge reels, and I ordered these for an environment where volunteers would need light-duty badge reels. I have worked in environments where plastic badge reels lasted a couple of years, so I expect these are great for my purposes. When I hear the heavy duty claim, I think of my wife, who frequently uses her reel throughout the day and can go through two to three reels in one year.
These reels have a good return spring but are not strong enough to fully retract a large set of keys (97 grams). My wife finds the nylon braided cords do not last as long as coated metal stranded cable. The clear plastic strap is not reinforced like other heavy-duty badge reels. My wife has temporarily lost her security badge in the past due to a snap that came apart on its own. These snaps are solid.
The bottom line is that these badge reels are great for the application and environment they will be used in due to the combination of an ID tag and the need to carry one or two keys (keyring) At $1.35, these are good value for a quantity of 20. This type of badge reel is available on 鶹 in larger amounts, and bulk pricing reduces the cost per unit.
