- Reviewed in Canada on October 26, 2020Verified PurchaseBack to the Future is my favourite movie of all time -- the sequels following closely behind. I had previously bought the 25th anniversary blu ray set, but now own a pretty nice 4K OLED TV so I had to get these movies once more to get that 4K HDR goodness.
I haven't watched all three yet, but the first movie looks excellent in 4K. It's truly a top notch transfer from the original film, you see every grain and detail like never before. Plus the HDR is a big improvement from watching the 1080p version on my OLED TV, where dark scenes would get blotchy and weird (a downside of viewing lower bitrate HD video on a 4K OLED screen).
All the bonus content discs are 1080p HD blu ray discs however. There's one for each movie, plus one additional new disc for this 35th anniversary release. It contains some new, never-before-seen content like audition tapes.
On top of all this, the special 鶹-exclusive version contains a novelty miniature hoverboard. It legitimately hovers over a curved magnetic ramp with clear plastic walls to keep the hoverboard in place. It's a neat little bonus item.
One little additional note; the start of the disc shows an incredible new 4K HDR version of the Universal logo reveal. Wow that looked cool! I imagine they put that in all their 4K blu rays, but I admittedly mostly stopped buying movies on discs except for rare exceptions. Very impressive little demonstration of the format though.

- Reviewed in Canada on October 20, 2021Verified PurchaseYou can tell a lot of care was put into bringing the films up to 4k standard pretty much from the opening sequence of BTTF as the camera pans around Doc's clocks and devices. The clarity and colour of the picture of all 3 releases is astounding.
The packaging for the release is also outstanding. All 3 movies (both the 4k copies and the standard blu-ray copies) along with the bonus disc are all contained in a booklet of sorts with a separate "page" for each release. It is much better than some other recently-released box sets that are just giant plastic standard 4k disc cases that can't even hold the discs properly.
Only complaint would be that this is actually missing content - for example the 2016 blu-ray release ('The Complete Adventures') came with all 26 episodes of the Animated Series, while this release only includes the first 2 episodes. So if you are a collector and do want everything, you're still going to need to keep a few older discs around.

- Reviewed in Canada on November 6, 2023Verified PurchaseHad these movies first on DVD, then transitioned to Blu-ray and now 4k. Absolutely love this series and watching them again in 4k on my Sony OLED, is an amazing experience in sight and sound.
Would highly recommend this 4k set.

- Reviewed in Canada on July 16, 2022Verified PurchaseFirst off, I'll say the 4k transfer is excellent and the colours with Dolby Vision are very vibrant compared to the Blu-Ray release. However I encountered so many problems with the 4k discs that I have ended up returning it. The first time I played the first movie, the screen froze for a full minute before even allowing me to load the menu. The disc would then freeze periodically throughout the movie, even after taking it out and cleaning it. I encountered the same problems with the other two movies however, with the third movie freezing entirely, skipping ahead, and producing a garbled picture part way into the film. Even after cleaning the disc it still did this, until I noticed the disc was actually cracked on the outside edge.
This happened because the discs are poorly packaged. They come in a booklet of cardboard sleeves, and you basically have to scrape the discs over the low quality cardboard with sharp edges to remove them. The discs all had minor scratches on them, as well as dust from the cardboard so you have to clean them every time you take them out. It also leaves the edges of the discs exposed, so it would be easy to suffer damage during shipping. It's really a terrible way to package these discs and should not be sold like this.
My final issue is that the download codes only give you HD-quality copies on Google Play, even though I paid for 4k, however this is a very common practice for Universal so I wasn't surprised.
