Using a Laptop as I changed from a desktop computer and wanted my screen to be at a good level. I didn't have to raise the stands but I'm glad that it has this feature (for future use). You will not be able to fit a laptop over 14" between the legs of the stand. I did with some tightness and spreading the legs of the stand less then 1 millimetre.
It's well build, I do think the vent holes need to be all over the top since you can see what is in the draw from the holes on top. I recommend it if you have two screens and need them at different heights as they maybe two different screen sizes. Plus the draw, which are not deep but can fit a pen and some other small objects is very useful and one of the reasons that I purchased these stands.
