Mine did not turn on well. Had to press the on button harder than usual to get the power and LED on. Took me a minute before I learned it was not broken from the start. Still after that, turning it on and off was always a hassle. You expect an appliance to turn on when you flip the switch - not needing to press on it harder. The appliance's power is mediocre to okay. You can't apply too much pressure or you will slow down the rotating stones too much, and that happens easily. Lastly, the stones for slot 2 were not well aligned. This resulted in that from the LEFT the knife had to go in deeper, and from the RIGHT side, it touched the stone too soon, resulting in not being able to fully lay the knife into the intended plastic guidance. Just not what you expect, that you have to maneuver your way around the appliance's intended use. This was too much of a non-expected for me, by which I had to send it back. I don't think I'll risk trying another one of the same, but go up a level for proper power and alignment.

This kitchen knife sharpener is simple, quite and effective. The noise level is minimal, operation is intuitive, and the results were consistent with the time and effort used to get an edge appropriate for a kitchen knife. The three coarseness stones are just right to get fast accurate results, similar in concept to how I hone my other knives where I need a finer edge.
If I have a criticism it is that when drawing the blade through the guide, the curve of the blade creates a situation where some skill/practice is required to consistently keep the edge properly oriented to the spinning stones. However, I believe that is a common feature of this style sharpener. This drawback is not serious enough that I would not recommend this knife sharpener.
