Like all other BT receiver, this can turn wired speakers (vintage or otherwise) into BT-capable speakers provided that the speakers have an input port for 3.5mm. Adapters (e.g. RCA/3.5mm) should work just fine and so should any other 2-channel adapters although I haven't personally tested 'em. It comes with a relatively thin and coiled cord that's fairly easy to work with, which I do appreciate.
✘ Note that this does NOT come with a noise filter (i.e. ground loop isolator) so this can NOT really be used in a car WHILE it's being charged by the car (i.e. via USB-A port). See NOTE below. I should also mention that the quality of the mic is bad (too much noise), much worse than ordinary hands-free device (which themselves are often bad enough) so if talking is what you plan to use this for, look elsewhere.
≡ Physical build
The physical build quality seems just fine and typical of nearly all other receivers (or even transceivers) on the market with an all-plastic construction although it does feel a bit flimsy although it's not necessarily cheap. It doesn't have any buttons or displays and the only thing it has is a LED indicator for displaying the connectivity status. It doesn't have any built-in battery and it MUST be connected to a power source via USB-A in order to work.
≡ Features
As aforementioned, this device can ONLY operate as a receiver and it's NOT a transmitter so it can NOT connect to BT-enabled devices (i.e. to discover BT devices to connect) but it can only receive BT connection requests. It supports SBC codec ONLY (this is the bare minimum) and no other audio codec such as aptX (any variation).
This BT receiver allows THIS device to connect to other BT capable devices such as phones, tablets, or TVs wirelessly to RECEIVE audio data and output it via the 3.5mm port. This would allow, for instance, an old speakers, wired headphones, or even vehicle stereos that do NOT support BT to connect to BT capable devices such as phones or smart TVs provided that the old speakers or wired headphones do have a 3.5mm port of course.
In essence, phones/Smart TVs (BT capable) would connect to THIS device wirelessly via BT and this device will in turn connect to old speakers or wired headphones using standard TRS M/M cable (i.e. the built-in cable) so you can use old wired speakers that aren't BT capable with new Smart TVs that have built-in BT functions (i.e. transmitter).
✘ Note
I should point out that this receiver does NOT come with a noise filter (i.e. ground loop noise isolator/filter) and what this means is simply that if you were to use it while it's connected to the same power source (i.e. charging this device) that the other end of the 3.5mm cable also connects to, a high-frequency noise will be heard and it will (for me at least) render this unusable because the high-pitched noise is fairly prominent.
For example, if this device is connected via 3.5mm to a car stereo while it's also being powered via USB-C from the USB ports (whether it's built into the car or via cigarette socket), you will near a constant HIGH FREQUENCY NOISE coming out of the vehicle's stereo. Again, this only happens when it's being powered by the vehicle AND connects to the vehicle via 3.5mm at the SAME TIME. If it's powered by, say, a separate portable power bank, then this wouldn't happen.
Without going to unnecessary details, this is the result of, at least partially, the way electrical system is implemented in the cars and not entirely the fault of the receiver although such filter (to isolate the noise) could've been built into the receiver as well. In either case, just remember that if this device is connected to the same device via both (e.g. to a TV in transmit mode or a vehicle in receive mode) 3.5mm and USB-C at the same time, you will likely hear high frequency noise. A standalone noise filter is available for about $15 here if that's something you need or are interested.

≡ Performance
So how does it perform? Well, its performance is similar to many others with similar capabilities without aptX-LL. There is no easy way for me to actually measure the latency of this and it works just fine for music although I can't say the same for videos since there is the occasional audio sync issue although it's not exactly evident because it's not consistent and it seems to be able to recover most of the time, at least during the tests. With that being said, this probably would NOT be a good candidate for video since it's likely that audio sync CAN be an issue for some people due to the lack of low-latency codecs such as aptX-LL (or even just aptX for that matter).
For those who are curious about exactly what kind of high frequency noise I'm talking about, see the video.
≡ Value
All things considered, this is a decent BT receiver that's reasonably compact/portable and easy to use (although a LCD display would've been better); however, it does NOT come with a noise filter (i.e. ground loop isolator/filter) so this can is NOT really suitable to be used in a car; unfortunately, this is what it's primarily advertised for and that simply doesn't work for me at all. However, it does work just fine as ordinary BT reliever (for wired speakers etc) as long as the speaker isn't powered by the same source (i.e. USB charger or power bank) as the BT receiver.
It also does NOT have any advanced/low-latency codec such as aptX or aptX-LL so this may not work as intended for video content because audio sync can be an issue in some situations for some. It's somewhat reasonably priced at $13 for what it provides and its overall build quality, features (or the lack thereof), usability, and performance (poor if used in vehicles, fine otherwise). Your mileage might vary.
2.0 out of 5 starsThis is a below average BT receiver for vehicles but a reasonably decent one for anything except vehicles or anything that doesn't share the same power source as the speaker that the 3.5mm plug is connected to (i.e. the speaker it's connected to isn't powered by the same USB wall charger/power bank that this devices is powered by/connected to).Below average BT receiver for vehicles, NO noise filter*, fine otherwise (non-vehicle), 3.5mm/USB-A

- Reviewed in Canada on September 27, 2024My car has a very finnicky Bluetooth system that makes it hard to pair with new devices for playing music. I still prefer the built-in Bluetooth for taking hands-free phone calls as the mic on this is not as nice or as close to my mouth when speaking compared to the car’s mic. So, for specific use cases, this is an easy solution that doesn’t take up much space in the car (doesn’t need to be plugged into cigarette lighter). Your car radio console needs to have an AUX port and USB-A port for it to be compatible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!!!
Verified PurchaseMy husband’s truck doesn’t have Bluetooth, so we were on the hunt for a fast Bluetooth aux that took little to no effort connecting. It takes less than 5 seconds for it to connect. The sounds is clear with no static. It doesn’t need a charge because it’s always plug into both ports. Very easy to use. So far we’ve had it for 3 months and it is still holding up. We love it. 10/10. I don’t mind having to purchase this again, if I had to!

5.0 out of 5 stars A must!!
Verified PurchaseIf your vehicle doesn't come with built-in Bluetooth, well here's the solution. As long as there's an auxiliary input, you're good to go. Sound quality is amazing, minimalist in every aspect...just plug and play and be on your way! Such a good device, had to buy it twice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding device to simplify audio connections!
Verified PurchaseI got two of these, one for my wife's car, one for my daughters. The best part of this model is that it is all-in-one. Too many times, these devices are rechargeable and have to be taken in the home to be charged, or require a separate cable in the car to do so. Because the entire device is on the USB portion and POWERED by USB, there is no need to worry about charging. Since it is so small, you can power it from a simple 5v port that you would use to charge, or even to connect a thumbdrive to a stereo. In both cases, the aux and usb port were out of the way, minimizing how much space it needs and ensuring it stays out of the way.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simple and does what it says.
I was going to use this in place of my Dewalt Bt adapter but will not after trial. Connecting to my phone was super easy. However, I immediately noticed the sound level was lower and had a much flatter response than my Dewalt device. The lower sound level is not a big deal and is a common issue between devices but the flat sound response is annoying. You shouldn't have to mess with Tone/EQ adjustments between devices. The directions have several warnings that make it an unpractical replacement for my purpose. This device does have one feature that makes is "Better" than my Dewalt which is the built in Microphone. My dewalt doesn't work for hands free calling as there is no mic so no one can hear you when connected for calls. Unfortunately, because of where this device was located in my vehicle, it didn't do a great job at the hands free anyway. I think that was mostly due to location though and not the device itself. I'm giving it 4 stars because it does what it is supposed to and because of it's simplicity. I would still recommend this if you have an older audio device with a 3.5mm Aux input AND audio performance isn't a big deal (I'm a bit of an audio snob).
Why this might not be a good choice for your vehicle:
Warning not to leave powered on when not in use. (My 12v Aux power is always on)
Warning not leave in direct sunlight.
Warning to avoid high heat and humidity.
Warning to store in climate controlled environment when not in use for long periods.
Likes:
It is supper simple to use; there are no buttons, pairing mode is automatic on powerup.
Works as a Hands Free device
The construction is very good with gold plated contact points and an aluminum 3.5mm audio jack.
The USB A connector is probably one of the snuggest I've encountered.
Dislikes:
Flat audio response.
3.5mm is straight. Right angle would be better (lower profile).

3.0 out of 5 stars Cheap but it works (until it breaks)
I got this because in my car, the aux port is right next to a 12v car power outlet, and in that port I have a 12v to USB adapter. This adapter lets me connect the USB side to power, and the audio line to the aux port to get bluetooth audio. It does work as expected and I could pair it to my phone without much issue. I'm sure the audio quality could be better but I got this because it was cheap. But then one day I reached down to grab it, and the wire pulled out of the USB side, leaving it broken off in the port. I should have known better because this is a cheap product, but be advised that if you get this, you need to be gentle with it, or it will break.
