Recently, I tested the BENFEI USB-C Hub on a Windows 11 Pro and a MacOS 15 computer. Both devices recognized the hub immediately.
I was very pleased with the device’s build quality. It features a sturdy metal housing with a premium feel, and the USB-C cord is made of high-end materials. The 9-inch length of the cord is longer than typical USB hubs, making it convenient to position around the computer.
If your laptop uses a USB-C power adapter, you can plug the hub into a USB-C port on your laptop and connect the power adapter to the hub’s 100W input port. This allows the hub to power your computer.
I gave this product 4 stars instead of 5 because I initially expected to connect two USB-C monitors to the hub. However, this didn’t work. On Windows, I received an error after a minute stating there was an issue configuring a newly connected USB device. My laptop and Mac both have two USB-C ports, so I assumed I could use the hub to connect the monitors. It seems the USB-C ports on the hub are designated for data transfer only and not for video output. A workaround would be to connect the hub to one port, a monitor to the second port, and use the hub’s HDMI output for the other monitor.
I tested the HDMI port with my 2K monitor, and it worked flawlessly, delivering the maximum resolution at 60Hz.

I use this hub mainly with my MacBook Pro and occasionally with my Surface Pro.
First and foremost, the material quality is great. It's all metal and it really doesn't feel like it's going to break anytime soon. The braided cable is long enough for a hub this size, although the better solution would be a detachable USB-C cable.

The hub has 2xUSB-C 10Gbps ports, 2xUSB-A 10Gbps ports, a HDMI 2.0 port (4K60) and a separate USB-C port for power input (this port does not transmit any data). That's a nice selection of ports.

I tried the power port, and it is indeed able to transmit ~100W of power as advertised. Even when all the ports on the hub are populated, the hub doesn't get warm which is nice.

All the USB ports are 10Gbps as advertised, but that's obviously 10Gbps combined. So if you have two 10Gbps devices and you're copying data from one drive to another, they will each get 5Gbps since the maximum transfer rate of the hub is 10Gbps. Things get a bit more complex when you have 4 10Gbps capable devices connected to the hub.

Although in theory the hub is supposed to divide the 10Gbps bandwidth between the 4 devices, in reality whatever device you plug first gets priority while the rest seem to be connected at a lower speed. This is an edge case and I don't expect this to be a problem for many. This isn't something you'd experience when you have 4 regular USB drives connected to the hub since those devices won't be able to hit the 10Gbps limit.

The HDMI port is indeed capable of doing 4K at 60Hz with HDR enabled... however the HDMI port has priority over all other ports. So if you're using the HDMI port and charging your laptop at the same time using the hub, the charger will only provide ~7 watts of power (even when the device is under full load and is able to draw much more power). Similarly, if you have USB devices connected, they will only run at USB 2.0 speeds because HDMI takes a fair bit of bandwidth and the microcontroller on the hub prioritizes HDMI.

This isn't a problem for me since my devices have multiple USB-C ports, but regardless something to keep in mind if your device only has one USB-C port.
One thing I like about this hub is that it has a designated power-in port... which means all other USB-C ports won't be used to charge your device. If I connect my power bank to my laptop, it will always try to charge my laptop. This way I can charge my powerbank from my MacBook or even my iPhone.

Overall, this is a great USB-C hub that has enough ports. I like that all ports are 10Gbps-capable instead of some being USB 2.0 and that it has a proper 4K@60 HDMI port. One step above this would be a Thunderbolt hub... and those are really expensive.

I was hoping to use this for my switches. I don’t wanna have two docs for the two places I need to have it. I saw that it was compatible with switches so I decided to see if I could get video out.

Unfortunately, that did not occur, I wasn’t particularly surprised, but I was hopeful that this would work, as it was kind shown it would

Other than that and is a perfectly acceptable type C Doc, it’s got decent build quality made of metal, it looks pretty similar to the other ones I’ve seen.

The output worked fine on my laptop, but I would say just don’t get this if you’re intending to use this on your switch. Otherwise, I’m sure it will do fine.

Arrived in a small box.
This has a power through powerful enough to handle a laptop. Too many laptops need peripheral hubs to even function as a work/creative machine these days. You can carry a power supply and this, or just this, which also covers some other bases. Having a metal external case helps in getting knocked around as one travels cubicle land, libraries, etc.
All I can say is that it works and it doesn't overheat for what I do. Ports aren't loose or so frikkin tight you can't plug into them. YMMV but this cuts more than a few grams out of an office in a backpack.

DESIGN E COSTRUZIONE: ELEGANZA E RESISTENZA

TEST E PRESTAZIONI REALI
Nel mio piccolo ho potuto testarlo collegando un MacBook Pro M4 a un monitor 4K da 27 pollici. Il risultato? Flusso video fluido e nitido, senza ritardi o perdite di qualità. Anche il trasferimento dati con un SSD NVMe tramite USB-C ha confermato la velocità dichiarata, arrivando effettivamente a 10Gbps.
Inoltre, la ricarica pass-through da 85W (gli altri 15W sono riservati ad altre funzioni) ha funzionato senza intoppi, mantenendo il laptop alimentato mentre venivano utilizzate le altre porte.
Altra prova ho potuto farla collegando con un adattatore, USB C verso USB A, un MacBook Pro del 2012 ad uno schermo HD tramite porta HDMI. Anche in questo caso il risultato è stato sorprendente, naturalmente nel rispetto delle velocità e delle specifiche dell’hardware datato.
