BACtrack Trace Features
Simple, One-Touch Operation
The Trace is easy to use - insert the two AAA batteries that come with the product, and it's ready to test. When you press the start button, the BACtrack Trace counts down for approximately 10 seconds, preparing the system for a breath sample. When the countdown reaches zero, blow steadily and continuously for at least 5 seconds. If a sufficient breath sample has been taken, the user's estimated BAC is displayed on the screen.
Reliable Performance, Accurate Results
Despite its small size, the BACtrack Trace packs serious technology inside its black plastic casing. There is a miniature air pump inside the Trace that activates at the end of each breath sample. You can actually feel the 'click' during each test. This proprietary internal sampling system ensures that a precise breath sample enters the alcohol fuel cell sensor, and is one of the reasons why the Trace provides trusted, accurate results every test.

I never post reviews but was sceptical with this small alcohol screening device compaired to the ones we use in our police force. I did test it with an alcohol standard (same procedure for the police screening devices as I am qualified to calibrate the alco-sensor FST). At see level it is 82mg% but at the moment/location I tested it, the target was 83mg% so 0.083. First test came back exacly 0.083. I was really impressed. These little things are temeperature sensitive. Don't leave it in your car if it is too hot or cold as it could damage the fuel cell like any other alcohol devices. I'll try to test it in few months to see how it can stay accurate. Of course, this is only for personnal usage anyway so even if it is of by 5mg%, it's not that of a big deal. Just remember that you need to wait 15 mins after consomption before testing. And your alcohol level should still continue to rise if you only stopped drinking 15 mins ago...
