At first I did not want to get the August Connect due to all the negative reviews, thinking it will be just a waste.
After running in to some issues with people not being able to open the door, I decided that I need the ability to lock and unlock remotely, so I bit the bullet. Should have done it Earlier! This thing works great! Yes, I had issues with connection, tried a few different spots and was able to find an outlet with a direct line of sight with the lock, shows weak connection but works great. I know when people leave or enter, I know when door is open or closed and I can remotely control the lock.
If you have a good line of sight outlet no more than 10 feet away, buy this, you won't regret it!

After thinking about it for awhile, I factory reset the lock (i had the lock installed for a month already), cleared the cache for the app and started from scratch. Bingo! Works great! Will update in a few weeks to give a better or worse review......
UPDATE... Well it's been a few months and you will not have a problem with it if you NEVER unpair it from the app/lock or change your home Wi-Fi or wifi SSID or get a new router. Basically... Don't do anything once you set it up otherwise you will become extremely frustrated trying to set it up again and most likely start drinking beer before the sun comes up and then vodka for breakfast.

We recently bought a new home and am wanting to create a smart home ecosystem. By all popular sites this was a good product ( and ecosystem) to invest in. I am a huge tech nerd and computer geek and am well versed in tech.
I purchased a Connect Hub, The Smart Lock, and the Doorbell Cam. I purchased the locks as the teenagers can often forget to lock the doors when they leave the house and I figured this would give me peace of mind that the house is always locked even when they forget. It will also unlock when we arrive home so that was pretty cool too. The Auto Lock feature worked well. The auto Unlock feature was completely nonfunctional. After spending over 90 mins on the phone with "August Support" they said the fault lied with the Android platform not communicating with their app and recognizing when we entered the home geofence. Not only was it not auto unlocking but when standing at the door it would take 45 seconds to connect to the lock to unlock the door! How is this faster, smarter, more efficient then using a key? IT ISNT !!!
Next I asked them why the August Connect was not getting a good signal via Bluetooth with the Smart Lock when they were only 36" apart.I thought this may be why its not unlocking quickly when I am at the front door. They said that the Connect needed to face the lock as it was Bluetooth. I dont have to face my bluetooth speaker when I am 30 ft away from it , why does the Connect have to fave the Smart Lock? This is a HUGE design flaw IMO.
Next we come to the Doorbell Cam. Upon install The doorbell wouldn't connect to the mounting plate. After spending ANOTHER 90 mins on the phone with tech support they said that they would send me out a new mounting plate and I would receive it within 5 business days. I was happy with that so I waited ...and I waited... and waited some more. After 10 business days I called "August Support" to enquire. They finally told me that they dint have the mounting plate in stock and didn't have an ETA when it would be in stock again. In their words " due to the inconvenience they would do a full replacement. All I had to due was to send back the Doorbell camera to them at MY EXPENSE and within 5 days they would send me another one. So I clarified, " Just so I fully understand, I have been without a doorbell for over 2 weeks, You want me to send this back to you at my expense and wait another 2-4 weeks to get a replacement?" Yes that's what they wanted. I then decided to call amazon and they amazon was fantastic and had a replacement in my hand in 48 hours. I was now excited to get this thing installed and ready to go. Changed out the mounting plate and boom it fit with the camera. I was so pumped to finally be done with this. Then I went to add a new device using the August App and it repeatedly failed. After messing around with it for a few hours I reluctantly called " August Support" yet again. While on the phone with them they had be attach and remove the camera from the mounting plate about 12 times, uninstall and reinstall the android app, sign out and sign back into my account 4 or 5 times. this went on for about 90 mins with 0 progress.
Based on my experience this is not a product that is consumer ready. Its more like a failed kickstarter with a whole lot of promises and no delivery.
Thank God I bought them on 鶹 and they have processed a full refund.
Don't waste your money or more importantly your time on this garbage or and August Smart Lock or Connect hub. All of them are a huge waste.
You have been warned.

There’s times I’ve waited 2 full minutes and it didn’t respond. Wifi is great at my place. The box it less than a meter from the lock with my google mesh on the wall right beside it. It’s frustrating when I’m carrying groceries and need to put it down to pull out my keys or phone.
It’s good that I can check to see if I did or didn’t check to see if my door is locked though.

I noticed that my batteries would need to be changed all the time.
Using CR123 are not cheap, but I did get rechargeable.
I would need to change them out 20-40 days.
I also noticed that I would get alerts all the time saying my device lost connection to the wifi.
Guessing some energy saving setting.
As soon I got this bridge, set it up. Its been over two months and I haven't need to change my batteries and not gotten an alert saying my lock has been disconnected to the wifi.
If the power is out. Still has the app and bluetooth.
