The AT2020USB-X was specially designed to meet the needs of content creators, making it the best microphone for streaming, podcasting, recording music, gaming and video recording. This Audio-Technica microphone offers the critically acclaimed, award-winning sound of the original AT2020 with the convenience of a plug-and-play USB-C operation with a custom desk stand. I bought this mic to do simple voice overs and just for fun. It was immediately recognized by my chromebook and discord as the default microphone, which was super great! works right out of the box! The only reason I'm not keeping it is because i don't own any audio editing software and can't adjust gain so it picks up EVERYTHING. I bought a maono mic for 1/4th of the price that had a gain control dial which suits my personal needs better. I will say, the knobs for adjusting the volume on your headphones as well as the one to control how much of your voice or your device's audio you hear is SUPER convenient. I would recommend this mic for people who are a bit more serious about podcasting/voice overs/singing/etc. Pretty good mic overall in terms of quality, just not the mic for me :)

    This microphone is kind of the definition of "diminishing returns".

    It's *great*, but honestly you're getting into "technically better" And looking at numbers on a screen to tell the difference.

    You can spend $100 less on a microphone than this and only an audiophile will likely tell the difference, you won't get a crispy podcast sound out out of this if that's what you're looking for.

    Moreover, with most places you will use this microphone, (calls, games) they will only have a certain amount of microphone audio quality to be sent over the computer, so unless you're professionally recording your own audio it's probably a moot purchase.

    Great for production as I can adjust the audio input through my software but if I’m just singing and filming myself there’s no option for that, so I can’t belt/sing loudly or even mildly loudly whatsoever without a muffling quality. Just a bit disappointing since I wanted to film videos with it aswell!
