    Understanding feminism as a political commitment rather than an identity treat is utterly important, and this book makes clear why. Reading on her current blog I can see that she maintains most of the statements that she first made in this book, which I have found really helpful in my classroom, research, and approach to a possible change.

    bell hooks essays changed my life 4 years ago and I will be forever grateful. As she often says: "Patriarchy knows no gender," and these essays are a must for every human being.
