It works just as advertised. You need to use it for its intended purpose if you expect the same results. Using a firearm that's too powerful, or weak, or the wrong projectiles... you might discover something new.

I used an American Classic P1377 with Daisy and Crosman pellets. I find it sufficient to pump it only 5 times (or 4). 10 pumps seems like overreaching, and keep in mind, the canadian version on this pistol is pretty weak (less than 495 FPS). I posted those pictures for anyone curious to see what is the effect of flat or destroyer (pointy with a hat) pellets on this target at 5 pumps. Barely scratched the paint and I like that.

For a low power pellet gun, the target also catches most of them, or most of the time. Don't try bouncy BB or materials that don't deform at impact.

I find it perfect for indoor shooting as I know it won't penetrate the target. Only thing to consider is the stray pellet that you didn't aim properly and hit the target on the wrong side, or simply the freak one that might want to come and get you.

It technically works, but only some of the time. The little forks in the back that catch/release the targets frequently get stuck way up I'm the back, so you have to reach in and flip them back down.

I feel like the construction should be a little more substantial, as I'm using a .177 cal Ruger Explorer, shooting ~495fps at 15-20 yards. Even at that distance, this is a youth pellet gun and I'm shooting Daisy flats at it. They pancake out pretty good, but they're like embedded in the targets.

I will say, this thing can take a beating. One of my Winchester hollow points snuck into my pocket and didn't punch out the backside so that was great! So far though every target has had a pellet embed itself on it (4 out of 5 in the pictures because I scraped one off).

The pellet catching capability is really nice; however, when you move the box the used pellets just spill out. Should have had a little drawer on the bottom that pulls out for disposal so you don't make a mess. If you get an old piece of window screen though you can cut it to the proper width and line the bottom/sides so the pellets land in there and down just fly out the holes.

Overall it's pretty decent, just thought it would hold up a bit better against a youth pellet gun. I don't even want to image the .22 Crosman Phantom at this point! Maybe once it's beat up beyond repair and just turns onto a plinking box without targets, but until then I don't think there would be much point in anything more substantial than anything .177 cal, at anywhere closer than 20 yds.

Not too bad for the price though, but I'll be looking for a more solid target box, because I don't see this one lasting more than 1,000-1,500 shots.

If you're new to pellet guns, or you have a much lower powered pellet gun (even BBs and gel blasters) this would probably be great for you! If your pellet gun requires you to have a PAL (i.e. >500fps, over the set amount of energetic force, etc.), don't even bother, you blow this thing apart.

This is exactly as described. Which, unfortunately, that does come as a slight irritation. That being said, I wish the containment unit and pellet control had some better angles and was a bit larger, especially when kids are up-and-comers. If I catch a ricochet as an adult, that's one thing. If I'm showing someone how to shoot and your pellet brakes and flies back at you, there's no telling what that shrapnel could possibly do.

This thing can absolutely take a beating. I've abused the life out of mine and it's withheld itself up to the power of a Gamo Gen3i Magnum in .22. You can see how the pellets in the first picture smash and mold into the targets. They can splinter, so be safe. I also got it to spark on one of the shots, which was slightly satisfying. It holds up to other, lower power .177 BB's. Plastic BB's will just explode and leave a ton of crap everywhere and they don't always carry enough impact to drive the targets into a stuck position. I use steel BB's and it's just fine. Pay attention to your surfaces. It's very rare but sometimes your projectile will hit the right spot in order to ricochet back towards you. If you're shooting inside, just he mindful of that and what's around you.

My gripes: the powder coating flakes off after it gets damaged, which kind of sucks, but not worth losing a star over. My other gripe with it is how the drop down mechanisms are designed. For example, you shoot one target and it has one spot that it can go to to stay in place and it's they're small metal tabs where they rest. They don't always stay. The tabs for whatever reason, they decided to make individually, instead of having a shelf on both sides with the reset in the middle of them that will drop them both down. I have to move them back into place on occasion. My final gripe about it is the location of the pivot points on the tops of the targets where they swing and attach. They hang down. Much too low. Low enough that you'll probably end up hitting those spots. I had to use some pliers and a little elbow grease, but I was able to shave down the bits of metal and get it back to swinging again.

This target is not as reliable as the free-standing type where the targets have to swing 270° to land on a horizontal bar that swings out of the way when a reset target is hit, but if you need a target with an integral projectile trap, this is a very good choice. The mechanism isn't super simple: the targets flip up just over 90° past a hinged plate that acts like a pawl or check valve to keep them from falling back down. The reset target moves the pivot point for the other 4 targets and pulls them away from the hinged plates to allow them to fall. When it works, it's very satisfying. However, you would need quite a bit of luck (even with perfect aim) to operate the whole thing with just 5 pellets due to it's imperfect reliability. Some hits fail to retain the targets - they just swing. Other hits (of the same velocity) will reset captured targets even though the target hit is not the reset target. It's pretty sensitive to what velocity you shoot it with. I use a Crosman 1322 multi pump .22 pellet pistol. The target works best with 3 pumps from that gun, which sends 14 grain pellets at about 310 FPS. I would therefore assume an ideal .177 velocity would be somewhere around 610 FPS (to achieve the same momentum). Hitting the targets too hard is actually worse than too slow because the little hinged plates that capture the targets can get jammed open if the hit target hits the hinge too fast. I found that a few hammerings on the back of the target with a rubber mallet reduced their tendency to jam (they use the back wall of the trap as their stop, and by bending the wall in a bit, they stop more securely). Another issue with shooting it with pellets that are traveling too fast is that fast pellets are more likely to bounce out of the trap. Under good conditions, I would say about 2/3 of the pellets stay in the trap (both hits and misses), and the bounce-outs usually stay within 5 feet of the trap, although some go as far as 12 feet (back towards the shooter). I have the target sitting on a concrete floor rather than mounting it to a wall. I noticed the repeated impacts were scooting it back across the floor a little. It turns out that was very counterproductive to the target's reliability. I placed a 10-pound weight on top of the trap to keep it still, and it operates at least twice as reliably now. It needed the increased rigidity. You have to be a good shot to use this target. The inner targets are less than an inch in diameter, and the outer ones are not much larger than an inch. So IF you are very accurate with your pellet shooting, AND you shoot at the correct velocity, AND your hinged plates don't jam (which may require some hammering), AND you mount the trap to a wall or otherwise prevent it from scooting around, AND you don't expect it to trap all the pellets, then this target is great! I'm not being sarcastic. I recognize it has shortcomings, but I love this thing. For shooting indoors, especially on a hard floor, it traps them well enough for me, and it lets me practice good precision (the small targets are quite small), and I don't have to keep swapping out paper targets. I've shot mine at least 500 times by now. I keep it about ten yards from my home office desk and plink at it periodically throughout my workday just a few shots at a time while I'm in online meetings or waiting for my computer to process something, or just when I need a short break to collect my thoughts. It keeps me happy while stuck at my desk, and gives me a cheap way to stay in practice for when I shoot louder guns on the weekends.
