The Astro Tool 78912 Low Profile Ball Joint Separator is designed for tight access where most ball joint separators won't fit. This tool is particularly useful on 2005+ Ford, Lincoln and Mercury applications and is impact rated durable forged design.

Haven't used it yet but for once I found one that will fit (albeit just) on the lower ball joint on Jeep JL Wranglers, most of the regular ones are too short. The extended length should work. Will give 5 stars when I finally use it
I don't blame the product for not working. The tool was bending when tightened as the ball joint was seized. I saw another identical tool (youtube) with a much large structure to prevent bending but I cannot find a place that sells those. I had to remove the entire front suspension (2011 ford fusion) and pound the ball joint off using a 60 lb. anvil and 10 pound sledge hammer, so under normal circumstances, I think the tool would have worked. I just didn't want to push it.
5 stars because Astro make quality products, no issues with the pressure bolt thread, ensure you lubricate it as the box instructions does not cover it. I used Quicksilver Teflon based gease. I bought this tool owing to a YT vid in which tight clearances made this tool necessary and was proven to work. The Steel quality is very good and i pushed it very hard but i ended up having to heat the Tie rod end and Ball joint end steel, but the pressure screw kept sliding off the Tie rod end under high load. Unfortunately i had to go to my local auto parts store to buy a pitman arm style puller and that worked for both my Tie Rod end and Lower ball joint. I think this tool will definitely work but it really depends on your application as i had trouble with it sliding off under extreme pressure and feel the face end of the pressure bolt thread fitting should be recessed to accomodate the end of the tie rod or ball joint rod end into to stop it from sliding off. My use was on the front end of my Toyota Prado so am dealing with heavy 4X4 joints, like i said it may be perfectly fine for sedans albeit the design of the end of the pressure bolt should be recessed to aid in the tool from sliding off under high load, but i had no marring or stripping of the male or female pressure bolt thread nor did i have any issue with the tangs bending, its very good quality steel and seems to be heat treated correctly.
