- Reviewed in Canada on June 10, 2024Verified PurchaseWell made, easy to use. This type of claw rake is faster and more efficient than your typical garden hand tools.... The bare wood handle just needs some linseed oil rub and you have the perfect simple hand tool that cultivates and breaks up soil, removes weeds, etc.,
- Reviewed in Canada on July 12, 2024Verified PurchaseThis is a great tool for digging at the gravel in my driveway to loosen it up and pull out the weeds. It doesn’t take much force for it to get through the packed down gravel and the prongs haven’t bent at all.

- Reviewed in Canada on July 19, 2024Verified PurchaseExcellent for scraping rotting leaves out of my trenches, between the rows, which I then pile around the plants as mulch. The handle is short but I’m on my knees anyway so it works fine. Would highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars This tool is a wonderful revelation!
Verified PurchaseIt looks so small and innocent but is lethal to weeds. I have a gravel drive, whose foundation is a very old tatty undulating weed infested tarmac drive. I have been hand pulling or pouring salt on the weeds for years. After using this tool, oh what a difference! It scoops down under the stones to the tarmac, with very little effort (lady pensioner) and hauls up great clods of weed roots along with the leaf compost that had formed between the (middle sized) stones. Now I see why my hand pulling was so inefficient, mostly the weeds broke off as I pulled, though sometimes I'd get little clods. This tool is AMAZING! Once used you will never go back, it is very light and comfortable to hold, and very sturdy, I expect to be using it for many years to come. My other half suggested a long handle would help, but I don't think so. You have to be able to pick up said weed clods into tub trug/bag next to you, (do clear as you go along, as there is a surprising amount to dispose of). Mind your knees and back though, TAKE IT EASY when you first use it. Two days later I still have bad back ache, BUT it was so rewarding, I couldn't stop. I did a third of the drive in one go! Now I will pace myself and do a couple of square yards at a time until finished. I know new weeds will appear, but as so many roots are now gone, I do believe the drive will stay in much cleaner condition from now on. BUY ONE!!! I love it, and comes extremely highly recommended!!! You know how there are some gadgets/tools that you realise you would never be without again? This is one of them. Enjoy :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Multi-use Tool

While you might not use this hand rake for mixing rice, I hope that I do help clarify some details that I read in other reviews for this product:
#1 The handle is unfinished. One person commented that they were afraid to use it because they didn't want to get any splinters. Another reviewer posted that his unfinished handle had been stained by dirt. (I'm not sure why that really matters since most people normally wear gloves and the rake was made to dig around in dirt anyways, whatev. To each, his own.) That is not the condition of my hand rake. While it does have a natural look to it, it also feels sleek to the touch and a sheen, telling me that it does have a finish on it. It is highly unlikely that I would get any splinters or that the handle would become stained with can dog food or otherwise.
#2 The welds that attach the prongs to a single metal piece that enters into the wooden handle are of a shoddy nature. I do not detect any single, separate welding points on the prongs. The metal claw that goes into a single rod appears to be of one continuous forged piece of metal. It does not seem likely that the prongs would break off due to that reason.
#3 The attachment into the wooden handle is substandard. Again, the quality of this tool is top notch and there is no wiggling or loose movement between the metal rake part and the wooden handle.
I do not necessarily need the sharp points on the ends of the prongs, but they are an added benefit in breaking up the rice and dog food. I'm certain that they can easily break up packed dirt in your gardens. I would also like to further compliment the heavy duty design of this product. I would even go so far to say that it is so well made that it could be theoretically used on the end of a pole for large garden projects. If I were to use it outside, I would not be afraid to really abuse this thing without the fear of it breaking it. I don't really think I need to obviously state it, but I truly believe that this buy is a good value for the money. It's easy to use, has a good, heavy duty weight to it, a comfortable sized handle grip and good sharp points on the end. Overall, I am thoroughly happy about my purchase.
