Nice rice cooker with stainless steel pot

- Reviewed in Canada on October 23, 2014Verified PurchaseThe main reason for buying this rice cooker is the feature of the stainless steel cooking pot. The pot is well made, feels heavy and looks very nice with the highly polished finish. The cooking time was exactly 25 minutes as stated in the manual and the rice was cooked to perfection. We found that the rice was very fluffy and it had a really clean taste. Our old rice cooker was of a coated material and it certainly did not have the same taste. The other feature that I really liked is the fact that you can see the rice as it cooks through the clear glass lid, very nice touch. Did not find a problem with the rice sticking to the bottom and was very easy to clean. Great product at a very reasonable price.
Nov 15 2014 Update : Have used the Aroma rice cooker at least 20 times since the first review. It has been amazing - perfect rice every time without any problems. Simply The Best !
- Reviewed in Canada on October 28, 2015Verified PurchaseMy previous cooker (another brand), only last a bit more than a year. I never liked the coated interior and didn't find an alternative at the time so I just cooked rice on the stovetop... Now after years of frequent overcooking and undercooking I was delighted to find this one with a stainless interior that didn't break the bank... This is just the perfect cooker for me, small and stainless steel...As for the rice cooking, great, every batch has been perfect so far (but I have yet to try brown rice)... Now I don't worry about cooking rice, it cooks and stays warm, ready when I am... I haven't had any sticking issues either so I am very happy with the purchase. So much that I just bought a second cooker for my son who is moving out in a few weeks. Now the only issue will be just how long this rice cooker lasts...
- Reviewed in Canada on March 28, 2018Verified PurchaseSo far I've made multi-grain porridge in it (great success, made it twice now), rice pudding and white Egyptian rice. I've learned to simply go with a two to one ratio, and always rinse the rice well. For the rice pudding, I used one cup well-rinsed rice, two cups cream with vanilla, salt, butter, golden raisins and dried pineapple chunks, and let 'er rip. It was a bit overfilled once it got to boiling and spillage was imminent so I hastily put a terry towel underneath. It was a gorgeous pudding and made enough to give to a friend (who loved it). Next time, to avoid the slight spillover, I'll cut the recipe in half. For the Egyptian white rice, I used a tetch more water as one reviewer thought it needed it. Not in my case, sad to say - it was a bit sloppy. Next time I'll do exactly as the booklet tells me (or just go two to one, as in two portions of liquid to one portion of well-rinsed rice). I bought this little rice cooker because I know that stainless steel will outlive me, and I love that I can make enough just for me, not the army my prior rice cooker required. I also appreciate the simplicity of pressing one button, then when the button hits warm, immediately lifting the liner out and placing it on a trivet to avoid the rice drying out too much and the bottom being scorched. Why did I drop one star? For that lesson it taught me about overfilling...otherwise it's perfect! I've had it only a month and will no doubt be willing it to a grandchild - as will you, I think. :)
- Reviewed in Canada on June 2, 2020Verified PurchaseI use this rice cooker to make Japanese sushi rice. It works beautifully! Yes, this is sticky rice, so it sticks to the bottom of the pot. But if I just leave the cook pot in the sink for a while, with some dish soap and water in it, then it washes out easily!
The main reason I got this rice cooker is because I wanted one that didn't have any plastic parts touching the rice as it cooks. So it is perfect! The lid is glass and the cooking pot is stainless steel.
The only negative thing I can say is: I don't see any way possible that the 3-cup option could be used at all. I don't know why they have that option in the instructions. I use the 2-cup option and, when cooked, it fills the whole pot. If you want to cook more than 2 cups of (dry) rice, buy the bigger size for sure. Overall, very good rice cooker!
- Reviewed in Canada on November 14, 2022Verified PurchaseWaited a few weeks before I reviewed, as I like to test appliances multiple times prior. I have now cooked rice a few times, quinoa and pearl barley in it, following the guidebook instructions. My only issue is that if I leave the Warm on too long, the bottom sticks to it. Found by adding a teaspoon of coconut oil, that became less of an issue.
What I really like about it is it is easy to clean, in that you only have the small stainless steel bowl to clean. And I soak it prior to scrubbing and it comes clean relatively early. Takes awhile to figure out the cook times for the various grains, but getting the hang of it. Really like the size and convenience. Perfect for 1 -2 people.
- Reviewed in Canada on April 2, 2024Verified PurchaseIt just works. Easy to clean. You can unscrew the lid handle if it gets funky under there.
It's stainless steel and it just works. No fancy bells or whistles -- it cooks and it warms and it works for me (single person). No fancy shenanigans also means fewer points of failure.
For me, rice is life, and this rice cooker is a solid foundation to build upon. I'm necessarily frugal and I want reliability; this thing delivers. 10/10
- Reviewed in Canada on January 8, 2025Verified PurchaseTakes time to clean it for the next use.
Using for once a day is okay.
- Reviewed in Canada on June 1, 2025Verified PurchaseIt was very bad quality and it wasn’t even good for cooking rice and I made only one cup and half from the rice and it overflowed
