Good Hot Tub Shock

- Reviewed in Canada on May 26, 2025We treat our hot tub with chlorine regularly, but it still can get a bit cloudy - or sometimes foamy - from the constant use. I know the chlorine keeps it sanitized, but I found that after adding some of this shock to it - the water cleared up considerably, and there was less foam after letting the jets run a full cycle.
I'm quite happy with how well/fast it worked! As other reviewers have pointed out, there's also a TON of this in the bottle for the amount you use - this will last a long time. My only real concern is that it says it's a non-chlorine based shock... not a sanitizer... breaks down organic matter, etc - but I can't find anywhere on the bottle where it says what it actually is. It does work though...
- Reviewed in Canada on May 27, 2025We ran out of our regular shock powder for our hot tub, and I couldn't find it again, so I ordered this shock treatment.
I was pleased to find out it works just as well as my previous shock powder. I've had issues in the past with my skin being itchy when I've used other products, but I'm happy to report I haven't had any issues at all with this one.
The water is clear, and there's not strong chemical smell left over (but wait for at least the 15 minutes they recommend- I wait 30 minutes just in case).
Using the recommended weekly does, this giant tub will last a LONG time! I'm happy with it!
- Reviewed in Canada on May 28, 2025This is a very good value at around $55.00 CAD for a 7 lb. bottle of spa shock. I have been using this in my inflatable hot tub for the past two weeks and it has done a fantastic job at keeping my spa water clean and clear. I use a tablespoon of the crystals (approx. 14 grams) and place directly into my hot tub water and I run the jets for about 10 minutes to help sanitize and spread the chemicals. The hot tub is ready again and safe to use about 10 minutes or so after that.
I have a small 2-person inflatable hot tub (150 gallons), so a tablespoon is the perfect measurement for me. If you have a 4-5 person, I would recommend two tablespoons of shock, once per week to keep your water clear.
I use this product alongside a basic spa sanitizer and I have had no issues and I am very impressed with the overall ease of use and quality of the product.
This is also a chlorine and bromine-free shock product which is fantastic if you are already using a chlorine sanitizer, as it helps keep the chlorine odor low.
- Reviewed in Canada on June 1, 2025I saw this product offered via the 鶹 Vine program and since I have both a hot tub and pool decided to order it.
The first thing I noticed on the vendors page was the following statement and I quote "Non-Chlorine Shock Treatment for swimming pools". Further reading on the vendors page made it clear it is for a spa/hot tub. This is something the vendor absolutely needs to correct as it is misleading.
When the product arrived and I read the back label it was confirmed it is for a spa/hot tub as there was no mention of using it for pool a pool. After reading everything I removed the lid expecting the plastic container to have a foam or aluminum seal to keep the product contained and fresh but there was neither including the cap had no gasket to contain the contents therefore when I did remove the cap there was the chemical particles on the ridge the container the cap screws on to. This is another opportunity for the vendor to improve. The actual granules of the product are very small which helps with quick dissolving in your spa/hot tub.
Upon following the vendors instructions I put the required amount into our hot tub and let it do its thing. When the time was up there was an extreme difference with the water. This product works fantastic.
Other than a couple opportunities the vendor can do this is a great product that works well. I fully recommend it however I have to deduct a star for the lack of a seal on the actual container nor in the screw on cap.

- Reviewed in Canada on June 1, 2025It's hard to get excited about pool chemicals, but they are absolutely necessary to keep your pool or spa in optimum condition. I got this product to boost the readings in the spa when they get low (noticable by cloudy water). This product works as advertised and should last a good while.
I would recommend this non chlorine shock.
- Reviewed in Canada on June 7, 2025This works well, as expected. We used it for the hot tub - a handful went in and it helped regulate the water and activate the bromine. We don’t typically have cloudy water due to regular water changes but occasionally have to treat foamy water and this did the trick. Overall happy with how it performs and will keep using it.
- Reviewed in Canada on June 2, 2025As the weather gets warmer, we are using our hot tub more and more, and of course, we ran out of shock :-(.
This is a very good size at a good price, and if you follow the instructions, it will last you for a long time.
Value for your money is high as you don't use a lot, depending on the volume of your hot tub, and the price is quite good and less than some OEMs.
The bottle has a white powder, and once in the water dissolves well. I ran a 20 min cycle, then let it rest for 20 mins, and went in. There was no chlorine smell, no itchiness, and no foam, I did not get any skin irritation, which was a good thing (follow instructions).
All in all, a very good option for your hot tub, one worth getting.
I hope my review helped with your purchase decision.

- Reviewed in Canada on May 24, 2025Arrived in a well sealed bottle with a secure and child resistant lid.
I tested this in our bromine treated spa. The product works well, following the instructions for volume to use the spa water (that had been unused for the past week) was visibly improved within an hour of use.
Overall Verdict?
Product works well, and 3kg will last for a long time. I recommend this product.
