About this item
The Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter lets you connect Thunderbolt and Thunderbolt 2 devices—such as external hard drives and Thunderbolt docks—to any of the Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports on your MacBook Pro.
As a bidirectional adapter, it can also connect new Thunderbolt 3 devices to a Mac with a Thunderbolt or Thunderbolt 2 port and macOS Sierra or later.
In addition, it can be used to connect Thunderbolt-enabled displays—such as the Apple Thunderbolt Display and LG Thunderbolt 2 displays—to any of the Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports on your MacBook Pro.
However, using this adapter with an Apple Thunderbolt Display requires a power source, because the display does not provide power through the adapter.
Note: This adapter does not support DisplayPort displays like the Apple LED Cinema Display or third-party DisplayPort and Mini DisplayPort displays.

When purchasing longer charging cables, the best, most reliable quality is going to be from the manufacturer of the phone you purchased. In this case, the new iPhone 16, comes standard with a short cable. This cable allows further stretch, meaning more use while the battery is charging. The charging speed is the same as the standard short cord provided with purchase. The cord is now more durable, as it is not plastic but wrapped in a material so it will not snap as easily as the old-fashioned plastic one often did.
Well, I usually buy Anker and UGreen. But of late I’ve read too many reviews and through all my research, Apple usb cables - and their chargers for that matter - come up as amongst the best we have to buy. The one thing that sticks out is Apple has a big name, and they don’t compromise on their manufacturing to save money. So in turn they are expensive, but they usually adhere to their advertised specifications, unlike so many other brands.
There’s nothing really fancy with these cables, they’re not even marked or labeled, which for the price is a knock against them IMO. But, the cables extol top rate quality. The insulation is thick, but soft and pliable making them quite comfortable to handle. They aren’t stiff like my UGreen cables which could almost stand out straight for a few inches and make handling a small chore when using.
I’ve tested many cables and unfortunately there are brands that just flat out lie about their specifications. They may claim over 100 watt handling but max out at 60. Yes I’ve tried numerous chargers and charged everything from phones to a laptops (MacBook Pro 16 M2) which can do 140 watts with the correct cable and wall charger. There’s no question one must pay attention to all these details to get the specs you think you are paying for. This 240 watt cable won’t charge a laptop at high speed if you use a 30 watt wall charger for example. And most wall chargers claim a maximum wattage (100 watts for example) but can only do so for minutes before overheating and shutting down.
Anyways, I tried this cable on my MacBook Pro 16 M2 using the Apple 140 watt charger. My measurements showed about 92 watts carried into the laptop. This is very normal based on similar tests using similar equipment. The only way to get more power to my MacBook Pro was to use the MagSafe magnetic cable with the 140 watt charger. That gave me between 112-122 watts depending on the state of the laptop but had no more than 65% remaining power in the battery. I did not test these 240 watt Apple cables on anything needing more power.
Bottom line, if ya want to future proof and want a high powered cable, this Apple cable is one of the nicest in my bunch. And that bunch includes UGreen, Anker and a bunch of 鶹 generic brands. I do recommend it due to its soft jacket and that it performs at high power for today’s devices and should for tomorrow’s as well.
You definitely get better quality from Apple. What a difference in quality of the cable vs the cheaper brands. I recommend these when dealing with Apple products for sure. No glitches or surprises. The 240watt cable is definitely way beefier, and compatible with USB C 3.2 and is pretty fast on a Thunderbolt 3/4 connection. Well worth the extra $$'s.

The length is perfect for when I need some extra reach, whether I’m charging in bed, at my desk, or using my phone while it’s plugged in. The woven fabric material is durable and adds a nice touch of texture, making the cable feel more premium compared to other standard cables. It also helps prevent tangling, which is a huge plus.
The charging speed is excellent. It works perfectly with my iPhone, iPad, and MacBook, providing fast and reliable charging. I haven’t had any issues with it not charging quickly or disconnecting, which I’ve experienced with other third-party cables in the past.
