So far we are very happy with this light. Our contractor said it was easy to install. Wiring went into the box and it fit well, but the box was not installed correctly so it isn't sitting flush with the ceiling. But that is not a deficit of the item. We currently have it on a switch, but we found the app looks easy enough to use and plan to set that up when all of the electricity is complete. The remote also has a bracket that you can use to mount it somewhere on the wall or in a cabinet. We found it easy enough to control the light temperature and brightness. It was fairly lightweight which made installation easier. It also feels like it has a fairly solid construction, but do know it is primarily plastic. This wasn't a problem for what we needed, but it is something to be aware of.

The installation went well. I was replacing an OLD 2-bulb ceiling fixture affixed to a metal junction box in the ceiling. THREE notes: 1.) the slots in the mounting base weren't long enough to accommodate the 4" metal utility box on the diagonal, so I had to use a knife to elongate the screw slots, then I used washers to make it extra secure. 2.) DO NOT USE the quick-tap wire connectors that come with it unless you want to burn your house down. I'm pretty sure the are NOT UL-listed. Use UL-approved quick connectors or even plain wire nuts instead. 3.) The remote works well, but if you are already in the habit of using the light switch, doing so may cause the remote to lose its sync. It's easy enough to re-sync - just hold the "ON" button on the remote down within 2 seconds of turning the light switch ON. This can get annoying, but the remote gives you access to more features - specifically dimming of both the main light and night-light ring, and 15 and 30 minute timers. There are three color temperatures - Cool, Natural, and Warm white. Using the light switch instead gives you full brightness on each of the modes, and you can change color temperature by rapidly switching on-off-on until you get the color temp you like, and then it will remember. However, it will be 100% brightness with no dimming until you re-sync the remote.

Finally - I'll add that the instructions provide a QR-code to download an app for controlling the light. I downloaded the Apple version for my iPhone - but I was absolutely unable to make it work, and it killed synchronization with the remote every time I tried. If you want an app-controlled light - look somewhere else.

I hate the circular fluorescents that were in some rooms of my house and now, the last of them is gone, replaced by LED fixtures. This is so easy to do now that we have these amazingly thin LED "pancake" lights. So thin that it's easy to put anywhere. You just need the two wires from the old fixture.

This fixture is large—36" diameter—and very bright. The light is completely even and very clean. The remote tunes the color.

The kit includes and instruction book (may be easy to miss down in the box), the light fixture (with mounting ring), a remote, a bracket to mount the remote, a plastic press device for connecting the wires, and a pair of wood screws for mounting the ring on the fixture.

I have an existing electrical box in my ceiling from the previous light I removed. I had expected to just attach the mounting ring to that box like you would with most lights, but this was missing the screws for that and the instructions detail marking and drilling holes in wood and using the included wood screws. I got the needed screws from the previous fixture and they were long enough to allow me to use them to mount this.

There is a safety clip/wire on the light to attach to the mounting ring which will support the light while attaching the electrical cables. It works, but be careful of the clips as they're not super sturdy - that only matters for as long as it takes you to connect the wiring though. Once the wiring is connected you align the fixture with the mounting ring and twist to securely mount it. Note that this device has no ground wire.

The remote control is thankfully a RF (Bluetooth) setup, so you don't need line of sight and the range is good. It has a range of color temperatures and brightness as well as fixed buttons for the nightlight, half bright, full bright and 15 and 30 minute timers. The remote can be paired/unpaired allowing it to control multiple lights if compatible.

This light is design to be constantly powered rather than turned off/on with a light switch. When first powered on, it defaults to full brightness with the lowest color temperature (3000K?) for the main light (nightlight off). My preference would have been for more of a daylight color, but there's no way to set the default when it's coming back from power off as all settings are lost and there's not any manual switches on the device that I could find or that the manual mentioned. If you time it right, you may be able to flip off and on the light switch with a slight delay to cycle through the preset color temperature modes and nightlight. I'm pretty sure it wasn't intended to be used that way though. Do note that when turning the power back on there is a slight delay (1-2 seconds) before the light actually turns on. After the light has been turned off at the switch for around 5 seconds or so, it will have lost it's settings and gone back to defaults.

The intended mode of use for this light is to leave the light switch on all of the time and control the light on/off with the remote - likely why they include a mount for the remote so that you can mount a remote holder next to the light switch and use that to hold the remote if you so desire.

There's also a phone app to control the light, but I didn't test that as I find the remote to be far more convenient.

Brightness from the light is quite good for my purposes - I measure about 170 lumens from 7ft away.

I'm going to drop a star for the lack of mounting hardware for existing electrical boxes as that's the typical scenario for mounting a light, and I'm going to drop a star for not having any mechanism for setting the default color temperature when turned on from the light switch. That said, I'll add a star back for using a RF remote instead of a line of sight remote, so 4 stars is the result.
