I did as most people likely did here, they looked at the price and thought "Nope too damn expensive" and bought a 2 pack of some cheaper brand for 11.99 or something. I've done that twice, all 4 of those adapters didn't work correctly out of the box, with disconnecting issues or outright not functioning at all. So I baulked at the price originally but was finally fed up and bought this Anker adapter.

It actually works.

I have an S21 and my wife has an S22 and both of our phones connect to the 3.5mm aux jack in our car with zero issues. Bumps, vibrations, etc no longer affect the connection. As some people have said, the USB jack itself is a bit snug and I can see how it might be a bit too snug for some people's devices but to me the snug fit is an indicator of a quality connection. The USB C connector is a single piece, not a crimped two piece so it's definitely higher quality than other brands.

I've had it for about 3 weeks now and I am very satisfied. Worth the 20 bucks just to avoid the nightmares of the cheaper garbage other companies are selling.

to remove the female headphones jack from the new samsung cell. phones was a not so clever idea -I am trying to be polite!-, but then they never have enough profits, so they change things all the time and they call it "progress"!
back to the usb c adaptors.
this one, from anker, is the only one I found (buying and returning the "half adapters" the market is full of), that allows the TRS male jack of the real old headphones to access the phones' microphone and you to be able to take or make calls during the listening process!!!
all the other "half adapters" offer you this only when you use earbuds, who have TRRS male jacks!
conclusion: though the "technician from anker customer service did not know all this, he had the common sense to admit it, telling me to buy the adapter and return it if it does not solve my problem.
I was going to do this anyway, it worked like a miracle and "hat off" to the real specialists from anker who know their trade, not like their salesmen!!!
that is that!
so I was glad I decided to pay anker's 3 times the price of their poor competition!

p.s. for those like me who had no idea about TRS and TRRS, to save you guys google searches, I will let you know that most common male headphones jacks are either TRS (stands for tip-ring-sleeve of the real headphones) or TRRS (which means tip-ring-ring-sleeve of the earbuds).
I hope this will help a little those of you who appreciate the quality of a real set of headphones!
maybe now, the newer corded ones already use TRRS male jacks, I wouldn't know, my old bose ones are still perfect for me!

used this device maybe 6 times. I was taking a call and when the call ended I removed the headphones from the headphone jack and not the usb-c from the phone. My phone instantly went black and non responsive. my hear dropped and thought my sub $20 dongle just killed my over $1000 phone. Thankfully I connected my phone to a wall charger and it came back to life. Now the dongle does nothing but make my headphones two inches longer and completely useless. Thank you for taking my money for 6 uses Anker and thank you Samsung for taking away my headphone jack and making me go through all this.

Look elsewhere for better products that wont possibly brick your expensive phone and or stop working after a few times. $20 is not enough for this product and honest for what i just went through $2 is not enough to risk damaging your phone over a headphone jack.

Ich hatte mir testweise 4 USB-C zu 3,5mm Klinke Adapter bzw. Dongle-DACs bestellt, um sie zu testen. Dieser hier ist einer davon. Ergebnis:

Das Gerät selbst: Robuste Ausführung. Nicht ganz so gut, wie der Kiwibird, aber schon gut gemacht.

Funktion: Funktioniert am PC und am Handy. Die höchste einstellbare Auflösung am PC war auch 24bit/96kHz. Hohe Verstärkungswirkung, kann also auch schwer anzutreibende Kopfhörer mit Musik versorgen (gestest mit Sennheiser HD-58X, 104dB, 150 Ohm: Bei 50% war der Kopfhörer so laut, wie am Handy ohne Dongle bei 100%. Da geht also noch was). Verstärkung gleich zum Kiwibird.

Sound: Der Sound ist balancierter als der Kiwibird. Dadurch fällt die Betonung der Höhen weg, was etwas weniger "sparkle on top" bedeutet, aber auch weniger Probleme mit scharfen Höhen. Da ich auch gerne mal HR/HM höre sollte, ist mir der Sound des Anker lieber, weil er besser als Allrounder fungiert und der Sound auch bei schwierigen Aufnahmen angenehmer ist.

Fazit: Für mich der Gesamtsieger, auch wenn der Kiwibird beim Preis (kostet die Hälfte) und beim Build (sehr robust) punkten kann. Bei der Verstärkung sind beide gleich, aber für mich ist der Sound sehr wichtig und der gefällt mir hier besser. Der grüne iMangoo hat zu viele Probleme und der Apple Dongle ist mir zu anfällig und praktisch ohne Verstärkung auch zu eingeschränkt in der Verwendung. Dafür ist er dann auch zu teuer (zweitteuerster mit dem iMangoo zusammen).

P.S.: Auf Nutzeranfrage hin auch Mikro gestest (d.h. ein Kopfhörer / Headset mit einem 4-poligen Klinkenstecker) und auch das hat einwandfrei funktioniert. Die Audioqualität war gut, wobei das natürlich im wesentlichen von dem Mikro abhängt. Das es aber ein ins Kabel integriertes Mikro eines ca. €25 teuren KZ IEMs war (KZ ZS5, sprich: nix besonderes) war die Audio Qualität erstaunlich gut. Weitere Funktionen habe ich nicht getestet, das hängt aber auch immer sehr vom Mikro, der Anzahl der Tasten und der Kompatibilität mit dem Handy ab. Der Dongle scheint die Signale 1:1 weiterzureichen.
