Fantastic Insight and a Wonderful Mediative Toolkit!

This book has been wonderful! The first sections provide wonderful insight into the WHY behind our anger and frustration and good reminders to think about how our children are feeling and why they are also feeling frustrated and angry and acting out (because, let's be honest, we are acting out, too ). I'm still working my way through the last bit about how exactly to go about changing my behavior and being a good example for my kiddo instead of inadvertently teaching her to be angry and fight, but I'm gratefully taking the help piece by piece and trying to be consistent in implementation. It's definitely a section I will continue to refer back to, over and over again. My advice to you? Don't just rent it! Buy it! You need this book on hand, not just to read it as a one-and-done, but as a handy guide to keep in your pocket for those times you notice you are slipping back into being an angry parent!

Motherly Emotions

I would definitely recommend reading this book if you just want a new perspective on what you can do to change your reaction to your children's actions. A few things I did try that I never thought about trying worked with my son. He has strong emotions so I always have to consider that when I get flustered or upset. This book hit home for the struggling parent who just wants to get closer to their little one. It gives you strategies to work on your emotions to a negative situation.

I found the author relatable right off the back when I started reading, in that we all struggle in the beginning if we were excited for this new journey or not. Personally I never planned my pregnancy because I planned on NOT having kids. However this book hit home nicely on some tips I got from zoom parenting classes I've done over the past few years that have helped me excel as a parent. Would do well for parents who can't do classes like I have.

Worthwhile read for any parent!
The author provides helpful strategies and tips on how to manage our anger and emotions when parenting. One of the best things about this book is that it provides real-life scenarios and is written in an easy-to-read format. It's a good book to share with new parents, or even experienced ones who need a refresher course in anger management. My favorite part of the book was the author’s take on children’s misbehavior being a method of communication. It's important to remember that all behavior is communication, even though it may feel like they're intentionally making your life more complicated. Overall, this is a great book with fantastic advice for managing your frustration as a parent. Highly recommend!

The book is a great introduction on coaxing someone to be willing to take a breath and want to do better. I believe using the book to be able to admit you want to be better and create a base in understanding how and why is a great tool.

It is not a fix all book, scientific approach, or magic fix all delivering promises it can't keep. But it is very relatable and informative, and that is the best way to have isolated parents feel like maybe they can change for the better.

For me, I have acknowledged the base of my anger is more of a mental health than it is a behaviour issue, but it is nice to be able to look at this and apply it now that I have some medication helping me at my root, too. My medication (for adhd and sleep) make it easier to really remember that my kid is an experience and I am her mentor and I'm guiding her, rather than her boss to discipline her. The how's and why's in this book help me remember just how innocent she is, and not how troublesome she can feel.

If you're looking for a great, relatable starting point, you'd do well starting here and branching off from it without feeling guilty or overwhelmed about what you're going through.

This book is amazing, as a mom of 6 kids I have received a lot of parenting advice over the years. This book trumps it all, it is well written and very down to earth, just like having a conversation with a dear friend. There is no judgment, just love and very caring advice. I found this book a great read, and very relatable. I had many breakthroughs and ideas to help my parenting. A treasured author in my life. Thank you for writing this.

Love this book! It’s an easy to read book that is very relatable. I found myself connecting to several examples and situations presented in the book. This read has helped me reflect on becoming a better parent. Even if you think you aren’t an angry parent, it’s a nice read to help remind you how to stay calm and collected when in a stressful parenting situation. Every stage of parenting is different and patience will be tested. Do yourself a favour and read this book to help ground yourself. I think it’s nice to have in your parent tool box to be able to pick up and read anytime through your parenting journey.

I always approach any parenting book with the mindset that every parent and every child is different; what works for one family may not work for ours.

There were strategies and ideas that I agreed with, and some I didn’t, and that’s okay. One strategy that I agree with is the five-second rule: if your child is not in danger, slowly count to five before you react to the situation. I also agree with the self-care section. As a parent, you need to make sure that you are taking care of yourself. Your children deserve the best version of you, and if you are neglecting yourself, it's not possible.

One thing in particular that I didn't agree with was how to approach bossiness. I don't think it is enough to just say hey, when you are being bossy it hurts other, so stop. If your child is being excessively bossy, there is a bigger reason and if the child is showing leadership skills, I would want them to channel it in a positive way. For myself, I would create activities for my daughter to lead so that I can help channel those traits in a friendly and polite way and correct her when necessary.

While I did find a few helpful strategies, I felt like I read more about why it isn't okay to be an angry parent and less ways to fix it. I would have preferred more of a balance between the two topics.

I'm a few chapters in. Talks about self care and some helpful resources. I find this helpful thus far. Wanted to read it do to being a good gentle parent and than snap. 0 to 100. So much patience all day long with toddler or even days and than I do something I regret. I always apologize but I want to learn what I need to do to be better.

My child is by no means angry though but I want to nip it in the but before she adapts to snapping. Or models it.

Just want to he better than what I had growing up so holding myself accountable and reading this book.

Another book by author I'm going to read I think as well as writing exactly about topics I need tweaking with.

I haven't been able to read the whole thing yet with a 10 month old at home, but what i have read has been really insightful thus far. It's well written, comes off as a conversation with another parent and is 100% relatable. It offers great solutions for regulating emotions, which i believe will be helpful for both myself and dealing with my strong willed, sassy 3.5 year old.
I will update once I've read the whole thing, but so far it's really great!

While doing research on child behavior, I came across this book, Angry Parent Angry Child. It attracted me to understand what made the author write this. But Carrie gave a very fresh perspective on this topic. We at times simply blame the child without doing our own introspection. After reading the book, I could guide that parent of mine who was concerned with her child's behavior. Thanks a lot
