Multipurpose it also has a holder to hold sewing machine needle to make it easier to install the needle in the sewing machine needle bar. I have arthritis in my hands so that was a pleasant surprise that has a great feature.
I haven't used this tool extensively, but my first project with it was cargo pants and seiwng over thick areas of the waistband and the belt loops was SO MUCH EASIER. In the past I'd often skip sewing over, or reinforcing areas (e.g. bartack stitching) because my needle would break or get stuck and jammed but this so far has helped with that. The stitch length isn't perfectly even, but I couldn't ask for more. It's quite the handy tool. Oh and it's also helped with making sturdy bags with thick seams.
A seam jumper is a must-have tool! If you want consistent even stitching over thick areas/seams, use a seam jumper. It’ll help prevent needle breakage or your fabric getting stuck in the feed dog.
After struggling for years and years (and hating every minute) hemming denim jeans...I "discovered" this little gadget! It has been life-changing! It allows your presser foot to level out, allowing YOU and your sewing machine to sew through multiple layers of denim without skipped stitches and/or broken needles. SO cheap; so easy - where has it been all my life?
I'd seen something similar on a you tube sewing video and decided to purchase for hemming thick pants like jeans. It does the trick, and you have to just go slowly and adust the foot along the fabric, as you sew over thick seams at a juncture of side and bottom hem.
I saw this on a You Tube video, and I bought ii as I do sew thick layers. When I tried it, it performed just like it claim's. It’s a lifesaver if you need to sew through thick layers
