Always Mine: A Small Town Friends-To-Lovers Romance (Honey Mountain Series Book 1) Kindle Edition
鶹
He fights fires for a living, but the flames building between us may be too big to extinguish.
Niko West is the most beautiful man I’ve ever laid eyes on.
Six feet, four inches of broody, chiseled Greek god in a firefighter suit.
He’s also been my best friend since kindergarten.
He always says the only solid thing in his life is our friendship.
He’s Honey Mountain's favorite player and I’m what you’d call a relationship girl.
But when I find myself single for the first time in more than a decade, I make Niko an offer he can’t refuse.
Who better to show me what I’ve been missing?
But now that we’ve crossed that line, I don’t know if friendship is enough for me.
**This is book 1 in the Honey Mountain Series. Each one can be read as a complete standalone. A HEA is guaranteed!**

- Reviewed in Canada on April 12, 2023Verified PurchaseThe first book in the Honey Mountain series, Always Mine introduces readers to the Thompson family. Prepare to become enthralled with Captain Jack and his beautiful daughters Everly, Vivian, Charlotte, Dylan and Ashlan. This sweet yet spicy romance is one you won’t be able to get enough of, which is great because the Honey Mountain series features a book for each sister! Book one offers a fantastic friends-to-lovers storyline and beautifully portrays instances of trauma and healing.
Meet Vivian. She is the notorious caretaker of all her sisters, especially after her mother’s passing, and loves to bake. She owns and runs her own small business, Honeybee Bakery, and worked hard to achieve her dream of owning a home. Meet Niko. He’s been friends with Vivian since childhood and works as a firefighter with her dad, Captain Jack. He takes care of his family yet cannot seem to get close to anyone romantically. Will Vivian ever see Niko as more than a friend? Is Niko prepared for what happens if she does?
I adored Pavlov’s writing style for a strong female lead. It makes me anxious to read the rest of the series, because I bet the sisters have us in for a rollercoaster of emotions. I found this book to be beautifully written and I devoured it in one sitting (confession: I did get up to make tea once or five times). One specific thing I loved was the phone tree amongst the fire families. Having lived in a mountain town myself, I was on the phone tree for emergencies, and found Pavlov’s ability to capture this unmatched. The characters in this story were crafted with care and it really comes out in the writing. You can sense the care and effort taken by Pavlov to craft every relationship, interaction, and exchange throughout the pages. I cannot wait to purchase this series in the limited edition covers!

- Reviewed in Canada on November 4, 2022Verified PurchaseI've been enjoying small town romances a lot in the past few months, so when I fell on the Honey Mountain Series, I was instantly intrigued. Always Mine left me fascinated by this little town and its charming residents. This friends to lovers romance was lovely, amusing, touching and sensual.
Vivi and Niko had such a special and tangible bond. The fear of losing this unique relationship they had since childhood made them afraid to explore their romantic feelings for each other, but when they started a fling they just couldn't deny what their heart wanted anymore.
Niko was so protective and caring with Vivi without even realizing it. It was exquisite to see, but at the same time sad to witness his doubts about being good enough for her. I seriously adored the way he was with her. Vivi was a sweet, kind hearted and likeable heroine. I truly enjoyed how their romance slowly and beautifully blossomed. They shared some really emotional moments as well as fiery encounters that left me winded.
This novel had a strong cast of supporting characters that made this read so pleasing. The Thomas' sisters had such a tight relationship and I like their interactions full of witty and supportive instants. Always Mine was a great way to be introduced to Laura Pavlov's books. I can't wait to pursue the Honey Mountain Series with Ever Mine next.
- Reviewed in Canada on December 24, 2024Verified PurchaseA cute story. A lot of trauma on both sides that apparently didn’t need a therapist for, but hey if it works it works. Love that Niko figured his stuff out rather quickly, night and day turn around.
You should read this book if you want a feel good, palate cleanser.
I feel like there was zero climax, the person who was thought to be the problem, is the problem. No one gets therapy for some rather serious traumas and at the end I was left feeling nothing.
- Reviewed in Canada on December 26, 2022Verified PurchaseGreat book about two people Nico and Vivian who have been best friends since Grade 1: Nico grew up in an abusive home but he always felt safe at Vivian’s house. Nico becomes a firefighter and his Dad is about to get released from jail. He needs. Vivian more then ever now. I Ian decided she is missing out in the romance department so she turns to Nico. Can their friendship survive or will it turn into ever lasting love?
- Reviewed in Canada on March 14, 2023Verified PurchaseThis is my first time diving into Laura’s books and I couldn’t of been more happy. Firefighter and a baker. What could be more perfect. Books like these make me want to pack up and move to a small mountain town. Cannot wait to read the rest of the Honey Mountain series
- Reviewed in Canada on March 7, 2023Verified PurchaseThis was so good! There was angst, love, laughter, a bit of suspense, and lots of heat. You have the firefighter and the baker who are childhood best friends and when they get together it’s magic. Niko and Vivian just compliment each other so well. I loved all the banter between the sisters and the guys at the firehouse. Add in an HEA and it’s an amazing read!
- Reviewed in Canada on January 18, 2023Verified PurchaseIt was a good introduction to the honey mountain world and characters. Honestly found the supporting characters more interesting the main female character which is alright considering the series continues with some of them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Their Yin Yang Connection
Verified PurchaseNiko and Vivian have been best friends since childhood and gone through a lot through the years, but even though they were attracted to each other, neither one of them crossed the line into anything other than friendship. However, Vivian decided on one drunken night to ask him for a request that not only blew his mind, but brought back all his feelings that he had tried so hard to suppress. It may have taken time for Niko to agree to Vivian’s request, but once he agreed, it was with conditions attached.
Unfortunately, what neither one of them took into account was that their feelings for each other would grow as they spent more time together in close proximity and engaging in steamy encounters. Nevertheless, they had to finally acknowledge their true feelings for each other, after Niko’s insecurities and Vivian’s near fatal incident, made them realise they were always meant to be together. This was an excellent story about two people who loved and supported each other through thick and thin, but never considered the fact that the best relationship between partners is for them to be your best friend and confidant. This is a truly amazing page turner, that had me hooked from the first page and kept me captivated until the final word.
I received a copy of this book free and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Vivian and Niko 💙
Verified PurchaseI’m Sad that I’ve finished the whole series! I think if I hadn’t read the previous books in this series I’d be lost. For it being the first book, it’s all over the place. Obviously I enjoyed it because I had already learned about the other 4 sisters and loved their stories. So I was so excited for Vivians! I really liked the explanation Niko gave for giving Vivi her nickname but I hated it! It was so cringe I hated reading it. Chapter 29 had me sobbing 😭💔
Loved the ending!!! ❤️

4.0 out of 5 stars A thrillingly read
Verified PurchaseSome thrilling parts in the book, making it hard to put down. The abuse and the impact on a person's vulnerability disabling them to move away from it's hold was realistic. Love won through in the end
