This book chronicles one of the first transgender murders reported by the American media. Living as a transgender man, Brandon Teena hit the dust bowl town of Falls City, Nebraska, just after he turned twenty-one. But when Lana's ex boyfriend discovered that Brandon was a female "posing as a man," Brandon's life was threatened. In a terrifying incident on Christmas Eve, Brandon was brutally raped after his "female parts" were unmasked. Then on New Year’s Eve, Brandon Teena, along with his close friend and a roommate, were found shot to death in an isolated farmhouse. This book is a true account of the twisted views and the overall misunderstanding of transgender people back in the 1990s. Originally titled All She Wanted, this book was the basis for the Oscar-winning film, Boys Don't Cry, starring Hilary Swank. All He Wanted will go down in history as being at the forefront of the transgender movement in America. When it was written, the word "transgender" did not exist in the American vocabulary.
